#AmazingJobsAtSafranNacelles - Juliana - “I like to get out of my comfort zone”
Rigour, curiosity and the desire to excel: this is the winning combo that guides Juliana Keroullé in her career. Responsible for a team of production managers at Safran Nacelles in Le Havre, she is connected to what happens in the workshops, attentive and always ready to challenge herself.
"I played it by ear." Juliana admits, thinking back to her studies. “And, even today, I don’t have a career plan. My philosophy in life is to do my best to thrive in my work and to be motivated to get up in the morning!" After her scientific baccalaureate and a Business and Administration Management HND, Juliana studied for a Master’s degree in international management and chose a graduate apprenticeship to immerse herself in the world of business. Project management, management control… She felt comfortable in these disciplines that made the most of her rigour and organisation qualities.
It is at this time that she joined the Safran Nacelles Le Havre site. In 2012, she completed her second year of Master’s in the Customs Department, before being recruited as a scheduler following her graduation, first as an interim worker and then as permanent staff. She learnt about the company and its products and gradually built her skills. "Initially, I was given a portfolio of small mechanical parts. Then parts with more complex workflows.” she recalls.
Daring to take the step
After five years, Juliana wanted to evolve. She was offered, a Marque Industriel project manager role, but it seemed too overwhelming at the time … “The step up was high, I still felt too new in the job,” she admits, “but the person who was going to be my future manager reassured me, and I dared to go for it.” And with success! This role change was the start of others, because Juliana is not the type that settles in a routine. “As soon as I felt comfortable, I challenged myself to get out of my comfort zone again and discover other horizons.” However, there’s no question of “flitting” as she invests herself in every role and gives it her best.
In 2021, when Safran Nacelles’ business was slowed down by the health crisis, Juliana moved to a temporary secondment to ArianeGroup, a joint venture of Safran and Airbus. She undertook the function of planner-scheduler on the lower module of the Ariane 6 launcher, and marvels at high space technology. After this one-year experience, from which she retained the taste for production, she returned to Marque Industriel roles on various programmes at Safran Nacelles. But very quickly, she wanted to get closer to operations while evolving toward managerial functions. “It wasn’t obvious to me, because I’m rather introverted,” she says. “but this is precisely why I wanted to push myself!"
Working with confidence
In February 2023, she joined the Supply Chain Department of the Composites and Nozzle Department in the lay-up production unit. Here, she heads a team of production managers and the logistics interface for Composites. "We support production." she explains. “Our role is to help them achieve their performance through business planning, manufacturing scheduling and ensuring availability of the materials required for the production of composite panels."
A year and a half later, Juliana looks in the rearview mirror and is delighted to have – once again – dared to change. “I have a lot to learn about logistics.” she says. “The trust of my team as a manager. The confidence in my colleagues in production, and I have learnt not to hesitate to ask questions to understand their requests. Confidence in myself, as well. And this is perhaps the most important thing I have learnt through my career so far. When I feel the urge to move on again, I know that my desire to thrive will guide me towards the right choices."
