A look back: Boeing 737 maiden flight, 50 years on
Around 13,500: the number of Boeing 737 aircraft delivered or ordered since 1967, making it the best-selling jetliner in the world.
The most recent version, the Boeing 737 MAX, features a whole host of innovative systems! While some earlier versions were powered by the CFM56, the best-selling engine ever, this one is powered by the latest-generation LEAP© engine. Planned to enter into service in 2017, this model features many other Safran products such as the Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC)(1), the power transmission system which is used to harness the power provided by the engine (before it is converted into hydraulic, pneumatic or electric energy), the wheels and carbon brakes (as chosen by the airline) as well as the wiring!
Did you know?
For twenty years now, Boeing has made its legendary 737 available in various versions of private jets which too are powered by Safran engines.
