Safran Sailing Challenge La Rochelle, October 3 to 5, 2014

La Rochelle, October 3, 2014

Safran is organizing its ninth Sailing Challenge from October 3 to 5, 2014 in La Rochelle, the well-known port on the Atlantic coast of France. The largest corporate regatta in France, coordinated by the Safran Sailing Challenge association, is once again set to be a tremendous success. It will bring together some 880 employees from 19 Safran companies around the world, sailing 121 boats. The crew members mainly represent France, Belgium, Germany, Britain and Switzerland, as well as the United States.

The Sailing Challenge in fact combines a race and a rally: it includes three days of sailboat races (regattas open to all, from beginners to seasoned sailors), and various games and special events. The Sailing Challenge is designed to promote Safran's corporate culture, and allow participants to get to know each other in a friendly atmosphere, united by their common passion for sailing.

The Safran Sailing Challenge also allows these sailing fans from Safran companies to meet and support two skippers from the Safran Sailing Team*: Morgan Lagravière and Gwénolé Gahinet. They will be alongside the fleet all weekend long, on the Figaro class Safran-Guy Cotton, with Gwénolé Gahinet at the helm. The 2014 Sailing Challenge will culminate on Sunday, October 5, with the Safran trophy being awarded to the winning crew

* The Safran Sailing Team also includes Marc Guillemot, who will start the Route du Rhum transatlantic race on November 3.
