Safran ready to weigh anchor in 2014 EDHEC Sailing Cup
Paris, April 25, 2014
Building on the success of last year's EDHEC Sailing Cup, Safran is renewing its partnership for the 46th edition, which will take place in the French port city of Les Sables d'Olonne from April 25 to May 3, 2014. This is the largest student sports event in Europe, with some 3,000 students from 22 countries, representing over 160 business schools, engineering schools and universities from around the world.
Through this partnership, Safran continues its employer brand promotion campaign, launched in 2012, and also echoes its commitment to ocean racing that reaches back to 2006, through sponsorship of the skippers Marc Guillemot, Morgan Lagravière and Gwénolé Gahinet.
Safran plans to hire some 6,000 new employees worldwide in 2013, including nearly 2,500 in France. Out of these 2,500, 1,500 will be engineer and management positions, with a third intended for more recent graduates (less than three years of experience). The EDHEC Sailing Cup is an ideal opportunity for Safran to expand its recognition among students.
Staff from Corporate Human Resources and members of the Group's network of ambassadors (employees representing Safran at their alma maters) will man a dedicated Safran stand at the EDHEC Village. This friendly forum will allow race participants to learn more about Safran, including its business sectors and career opportunities in the aerospace, defense and security markets.
Safran has planned several special events for its stand, including a competition based on a boat winch for participating schools. The winning school will be able to enter the Safran Sailing Challenge, the largest corporate regatta in France, sailing a boat sponsored by Safran. This race will take place in La Rochelle from October 3 to 5, 2014. Also on the agenda are friendly meetings every day between students and Safran employees – snacks included!
Marc Guillemot (the sponsor of this year's race) and Morgan Lagravière will also be on hand, along with the Safran Open 60 monohull ocean racer, from Sunday, April 27 to Tuesday, April 29. They will take part in a mini-conference on the Safran stand, and an autograph session on Monday evening.
Safran is a leading international high-technology group with three core businesses: Aerospace (propulsion and equipment), Defence and Security.
