Pierre Thouraud named Safran Vice President, Engineering

Pierre Thouraud has been named Safran Vice President, Engineering, effective March 1, 2014, and reports to the Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Operations.
Pierre Thouraud, 65, graduated from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de l'Aéronautique et de l'Espace aeronautical engineering school.
He joined the Snecma engineering division in 1973. After the first part of his career dedicated to compressor and turbine aerodynamics, he was named head of the advanced engine projects and technologies division in 1988. In 1993, when the CFM56-7 and CFM56-5BP versions were launched, for the Boeing Next-Generation 737 and Airbus A320 family, respectively, Pierre Thouraud was named CFM56 chief engineer. He was subsequently named deputy to the head of engineering in 1999, in charge of all engines. He held this position until 2002, when he was named Snecma Vice President, Engineering.
Pierre Thouraud is a director of the Group companies Turbomeca, Herakles, Hispano-Suiza and SMA.
