The Women’s Forum, with Safran

Paris, October 15, 2013

Safran is a partner in the Women's Forum, taking place from October 16 to 18 in Deauville, France. This major international event allows Safran to underscore its commitment to gender equality in the workplace, and to discuss the role of women in high-tech professions. About 20 Safran employees will participate in these discussions.

As part of its active role in the Women in Engineering network, Safran is organizing two roundtable discussions: Listening to youngsters' expertise brings results, on Wednesday, October 16 at 3:30 pm, and Engineering can be cool. Really, on Thursday, October 17 at 11:15 am (corner space). Discussions such as these provide excellent opportunities for Safran to demonstrate how women can transform technological innovation and engineering in general.

Safran will also participate in the workshops organized by Altran, Renault Nissan, Exxon Mobil and ABB, its partners in the association, Women in Engineering:

  • October 16 :
    • 4:30 pm – « Unleash your power » (Premium Amphitheater)
  • October 17 :
    • 3:00 pm - « How to be creative in attracting female talents in a male dominated industry? » (Premium Amphitheater)
    • 4:00 pm - « Send me someone unexpected, I want to be intensely creative»
  • October 18 :
    • 11:15 am - « Career/life gymnastics…»
    • 1:15 am - «The curious case of the vanishing female engineer»

With women making up about 25% of its workforce, including hundreds in key operational positions, Safran is keenly aware of the considerable advantage embodied by gender equality. The Group's experience, whether in management or operational excellence, has clearly shown that enhancing the role played by women is a path to higher performance.

Safran is also a partner in the association Elles Bougent ("Women on the Move"), which it joined in 2006. This is an industry association that encourages girls and young women to choose scientific and technical careers, by informing them about the job opportunities open in these fields, especially as engineers.

Safran is a leading international high-technology group with three core businesses: Aerospace (propulsion and equipment), Defence and Security. Operating worldwide, the Group has 62,500 employees and generated sales of 13.6 billion euros in 2012. Working alone or in partnership, Safran holds world or European leadership positions in its core markets. The Group invests heavily in Research & Development to meet the requirements of changing markets, including expenditures of 1.6 billion Euros in 2012.
