Safran Powers the "Taste of France"
New York, NY, USA – September 13, 2013
The "Taste of France" is the largest showcase event organized to promote France in the U.S. and worldwide, and opens in Bryant Park, in New York, on September 28 & 29. This event will highlight the excellence of French industry, tourism, cuisine and culture, technology and innovation. Show participant Safran will showcase not only its jet engines that power many U.S. single-aisle commercial aircraft, but will also display a variety of its technologies and products manufactured by our American workers and used daily by the American citizens.
"We are pleased to participate as a key exhibitor in this event," said Peter N. Lengyel, CEO & President of Safran USA. "The ‘Taste of France' offers us the opportunity to display to more than 100,000 expected visitors Safran technologies included in our products that are produced in the U.S. by our 32 companies (including joint ventures) and adapted to better serve our customers' needs and the U.S. market."
Safran will exhibit its flagship products for aerospace, including a model of the Leap 1-B engine—the successor to the CFM56 engine, the bestselling engine of its generation—that incorporates state-of-the-art expertise and technological excellence developed by Safran Snecma and GE over the past four decades. The Leap 1-B engine will be the exclusive powerplant of the new Boeing 737 MAX. Safran will also showcase its U.S.-made Arriel 1 engine that powers rotorcraft such as the UH Lakota for the U.S. Army, and the SR305-230E diesel engine designed for light aircraft such as Cessna's Turbo Skylane 182 JT-A.
Safran will also display its innovative security solutions from its U.S. based companies, to include a MorphoTrust self-service kiosk that allows customers to rapidly renew or replace their driver licenses. Visitors will learn more about the driver license issuance solutions that Safran provides in 42 states, as well as the Morpho Detection CTX 9800 DSi™ system, capable of screening more than 1,000 bags per hour, and their Itemiser® DX - a lightweight, portable desktop system, that can detect residue from explosives on skin, clothing, parcels, bags, cargo, vehicles and other surfaces. These solutions are currently used by TSA for explosives detection at New York's LaGuardia airport and across the U.S.
"Safran has been a trusted partner of the U.S. aerospace, defense and security industries for decades," says Mr. Lengyel, "and France is a global leader in innovation and technology. For example, our 50/50 joint venture with GE is the most successful and enduring transatlantic partnership, so successful, in fact, that we recently extended our cooperation another 40 years. This event offers us the opportunity to underline that level of commitment to our U.S. partners and end-users, and celebrate our nearly 7,000 Safran employees and their products across the U.S."
