Safran Sailing Challenge Concarneau, September 13 to 15, 2013

Concarneau, France, September 5, 2013

Safran is organizing its eighth Sailing Challenge from September 13 to 15 at the picturesque Breton port of Concarneau. The largest corporate regatta in France, coordinated by the Safran Sailing Challenge association, is once again set to be a tremendous success. It will bring together some 800 employees from Safran companies around the world, sailing 110 boats. The crew members mainly represent France, Belgium, Germany, Britain and Switzerland, as well as the United States, Canada, Mexico and China.

The Sailing Challenge in fact combines a race and a rally: it includes three days of sailboat races (regattas open to all, from beginners to seasoned sailors), and various games and special events. The Sailing Challenge is designed to promote Safran's corporate culture, and allow participants to get to know each other in a friendly atmosphere, united by their common passion for sailing.

The Safran Sailing Challenge also allows these sailing fans from Safran companies to meet and support Marc Guillemot, the Safran skipper, who will be competing in the Transat Jacques Vabre* starting on November 3. Marc Guillemot will be present all weekend, aboard the Safran Open 60 IMOCA class ocean racer. The 2013 Sailing Challenge will culminate on Sunday, September 15, with the Safran trophy being awarded to the winning crew.

Marc Guillemot will be attending the Safran press conference at 4:30 pm on Thursday, September 12 at the Concarneau city hall.

* Marc Guillemot won the Transat Jacques Vabre transatlantic race in 2009, with Charles Caudrelier Benac as co-skipper.
