Safran joins the association @talentEgal, founded by Alcatel-Lucent

The association @talentEgal is working with six schools to provide support for disabled students working on university level degrees, all the way through their first job.

Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) today announced that Safran, a leading international high-tech Tier-1 equipment manufacturer, is joining the @talentEgal program. The addition of Safran will enable offering disabled students an extended range of professions, complementing those of Alcatel-Lucent, in Safran's core markets of aerospace, defense and security.
The @talentEgal program provides a gateway between high schools; higher education and integration in the workplace, helping young disabled persons earn a university level degree and find a first job. Students joining this program receive complete tutoring support. They will enjoy a broad array of services, including access to specific courses at Alcatel-Lucent University, modified workstations if required, with a possible extension to their school, and priority access to job offers, apprenticeships and internships.

With Safran joining @talentEgal, students will benefit from the full range of opportunities and arrangements offered by this Group, based on work-study schemes or internships, facilitating their recruitment by Safran. In particular, Safran will set up a network of volunteer tutors to support these students throughout their courses and time in the company.

"The association is a means of removing barriers for disabled students who wish to pursue their education at university level. Since being launched two years ago, a number of students who had considered shorter courses of university study were able to continue their studies and obtain an initial graduate degree," said Loïc Le Grouiec, President of @talentEgal and CEO of Alcatel-Lucent France. "When combined with a solid professional itinerary, based on internships or apprenticeships, our program will better prepare these young people to meet the requirements of the job market."

Since 2006, Safran has participated in the ELAN program, to support the training of disabled persons through work-study programs, enabling us to welcome over 170 students."

Initiated by Alcatel-Lucent in October 2010, the @talentEgal program has already provided support for 26 students, and is overseeing a class of 19 students this year. Some 90% of these students are studying for technology degrees, ranging from an undergraduate degree (36%) to an initial graduate degree (53%).
