Morpho showcases expanded product range at Milipol 2011

Milipol, the international homeland security trade show and exhibition, was held in Paris on October 18-21, 2011. It allowed Morpho (Safran group) to showcase its expanded and diversified offering of security products and services.

Morpho, a Safran group company, is the world leader in biometric identification and explosive detection solutions. At the Milipol international homeland security trade show and exhibition, held in Paris from October 18 to 21, it displayed the full range of its security solutions under the corporate tagline, "Morpho, Creating Trust Worldwide". Morpho's exhibition stand spotlighted the company's expanded offering of products and services, organized by major sector: criminal investigations, ID solutions, border control, explosive and narcotic detection solutions, road safety, etc.

An expanded offering
"This year's Milipol is a great opportunity for us to showcase our latest-generation systems for critical sectors, especially for police forces, airports, border control units and other key customers," said François Perrachon, head of business development at Morpho. Products on display included the new-generation MorphoWay™ automated border control gateway and the Itemiser® DX portable explosive trace detector. "We are increasingly firm believers in solutions combining ID and dangerous substance detection systems for tomorrow's border control gateways," added Perrachon. "In fact, our teams are working on these advanced solutions right now." This type of system, intended for airports anywhere in the world, would enable simultaneously authenticating a person's identity and checking that they are not carrying dangerous or illicit substances.

Leveraging synergies
A section dedicated to biometric ID solutions, featuring systems for iris, facial and fingerprint recognition, reminded visitors that the U.S. company L-1 Identity Solutions is now part of Safran. It also offered demonstrations of biometric recognition devices for police and defense units, developed by the new entity and intended for use in conflicts or foreign deployments.
"With the acquisition of L-1 last July, including its biometric solutions and access control businesses," said François Perrachon, "we have considerably expanded our product line, enabling us to offer customers more products and services, offering higher performance in terms of faster operation and greater security. Milipol is an ideal showcase to publicize our expanded offering in the international market."

Enhancing road safety
Morpho, already a major player in the road safety market, presented its new-generation Mesta Smart average speed monitoring system, designed to enhance speed limit enforcement. This new system measures average vehicle speed over distances ranging from 150 meters to several dozen kilometers.
