Fifth Safran Sailing Challenge, September 17 to 19 at Lorient
Lorient, 16 September 2010
The Safran group is organizing its fifth Sailing Challenge from September 17 to 19, 2010 at Lorient, in Brittany. Once again, this in-house event is set to be a major success, with 93 boats and 650 people from 23 Group companies (37 facilities, including four from outside France) ready to weigh anchor from the Lorient BSM harbor.
The Sailing Challenge in fact combines a race and a rally: it includes three days of sailboat races (regattas open to all, from beginners to seasoned sailors), and various games (a quiz on maritime activities and the region, puzzles, a photo competition, etc.). The Sailing Challenge is designed to promote Safran's corporate culture, and allow participants to get to know each other in a friendly atmosphere, united by their common passion for sailing.
"Safran continues to support the Sailing Challenge as a major in-house initiative that helps unite our employees around core values, such as teamwork and sharing," said Gérard Le Page, President and CEO of SafranSixty, the company in charge of Safran's boat sponsorship initiative. "We aim to nurture greater unity between Group companies in France and abroad, in a friendly atmosphere combining competition and fun."
The Sailing Challenge also allows Safran to present the Group's boat sponsorship project to the crews taking part. Marc Guillemot, skipper of the Safran Open 60 ocean racer, will be in Lorient on September 18 to support the Sailing Challenge and present the 60-foot IMOCA class racing yacht.
The 2010 Sailing Challenge will culminate on September 19 with the award of the Safran Trophy, presented to the overall winner of the race every year.
