• OPEX Tasks
o SEV Operational Excellence Improvement Program
o The Operational Excellence Engineer must complete facility-based tasks required by the SEV Operational Excellence Improvement Program. These tasks include but are not limited to the following items:
1. Utilize Value Stream Mapping to identify, understand, and then decrease waste to transition the process from the current state to the future state.
2. Implement visual cues and communication tools in both the factory and office environment to provide “status at a glance” and allow quick and simple detection of abnormal operating conditions.
3. Provide inputs for monthly update of the OPEX Master Plan of the VP of Quality and OPEX.
4. Create continuous flow to reduce work in process, inventory, cycle times, and lead times.
5. Provide support to improvements established on the Hoshin Kanri and One Safran Transformation roadmaps.
6. Benchmarking activities with other Safran and external companies as required.
Job Requirements
• Knowledge expectations
• Knowledge of Lean-Sigma tools, such as Value Stream Map, waste identification, Continuous Improvement Fundamentals, 5S+1, Just in time, KPIs, SMED, takt time, pull system, ANDON, Poka Yoke, TPM, FIFO, Kaizen, 7 Quality tools, statistical tools, FMEA, APQP, DOE.
• Language Skills
• Must be fluent in English with the ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals related to Lean Six Sigma.
• Must be able to clearly and effectively present information to team members and management in English.
• Mathematical Skills
• Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations including rates, ratios, percentages, and yields, as well as statistical analysis.
• Computer Skills
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Visio, AutoCAD, iGrafx and Minitab.
• Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering from a four-year college or university. One year of related experience desirable.
• Reasoning Ability
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to analyze processes and identify best practices, areas requiring improvement, and activities that do not add value.
• Ability to make decisions based on facts.
• Licenses, certificates, and registrations
• Lean 6 Sigma Certification Desirable
• Other skills and abilities
• Must be able to work independently with little direction.
• Must be able to coordinate meetings in an efficient manner and ensure all members attend.
• Must be able to work effectively within a team environment.
• Must be able to manage multiple projects concurrently
• Must have the ability to deliver to plan and deadlines.
Specificity of the job
o Travel to other facilities for periods of 2 weeks or less may be required up to 4 times per year.
