Design coordination of seats and seat components. Coordinates changes with other internal company departments, vendors, and customers.
Duties and Responsibilities (essential functions):
A) Responsible for the design and detail modeling of a variety of suite components in order to meet program requirements
B) Produce designs to meet specified cost/weight targets
C) Mechanical Engineers will be expected to communicate effectively and professionally with customers and suppliers.
D) Participate in Design Reviews throughout each phase of the New Product Introduction process
E) The selection and application of materials and processes appropriate to each design element
F) Ensure the successful integration of each design element within the product as a whole
G) Check engineering packages
H) Participate in the validation of the product (using such methods as prototyping, test, DFMEA)
I) Follow and contribute to the development of the Best Practice guidelines
J) From time to time, Mechanical Engineers must be prepared to undertake tasks outside of their normal duties as requested by their immediate supervisors.
K) Reviews specification as related to assigned job.
L) Prepares check list.
M) Prepares lay-outs.
N) Prepares structural sub-assemblies and drawings.
O) Prepares sketches for details.
P) Reviews drawing package to assure conformance to requirements.
Q) Submits completed drawings to project lead for approval and release.
R) Liaison for assigned task.
S) Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands: This position requires extended periods of sitting while working with computers and viewing computer monitors and other office equipment. Finger dexterity needed in using misc. office equipment such as telephone, computer and copy machine, etc. Bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting up to approximately twenty pounds are required during tasks related to the job.
Knowledge and Skills:
i) Must have excellent drafting skills in CATIA V5 (or higher) and/or Pro/Engineer.
ii) Must be able to provide complicated lay-outs and program design studies.
iii) Must be able to interact successfully with engineering, tooling, and manufacturing departments.
iv) Must be able to function as part of a design team.
v) Must have a thorough understanding of manufacturing processes.
Education and Experience:
Must have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Design Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechanical and Energy Engineering or a related engineering degree (minimum of 12 years equivalent related engineering experience will be considered in lieu of Bachelor's degree) plus an additional 2 years of related design experience required.
Must have a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Design Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechanical and Energy Engineering or a related engineering degree plus 1 year of related design experience required.
