Job Description

1.0 Summary of Job Purpose:

Build Auxiliary Power Unit and its subassemblies while meeting quality, service and efficiency objectives.

2.0 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The primary duties and responsibilities for this position include the following and other responsibilities can be assigned:

• Work with hand tools, measuring equipment, balancing and grinding machines to assemble modules and engines. Work with hand tools and cleaning chemicals to disassemble modules for inspection purposes.
• Perform all the operations necessary for the assembly/disassembly of turbine components in accordance with appropriate job instructions, technical specifications and /or standard work practices.
• Perform all required testing including Automated Test Procedure (ATP) on all APU's.
• Work with Engineering in failure analysis when needed.
• Install necessary instrumentation per requirements flowed down from engineering on both development and flight test engines.
• Ability to recognize potential problems and recommend solutions.
• Support other areas with general manufacturing needs as required and perform other tasks as needed.
• Work in compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Assist Quality personnel with in-process inspections as required.
• Operate forklifts and remote controlled cranes within training requirements, performing safely as required to ensure personnel safety and product integrity.
• Participate in the company Quality and EHS programs.

3.0 Scope and Accountabilities:

Must complete all required documentation with complete accuracy.

4.0 Required Competencies; Education / Knowledge / Skills and Abilities:

• High school diploma or general education diploma (GED); and 2 to 5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Airframe and Powerplant certification required.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret Engineering drawings and Manufacturing instructions.
• Demonstrate working knowledge of the engine design and assist in analysis with both manufacturing and design engineering.
Knowledge of Basic Level Microsoft Office programs: Outlook, Word, and Excel a plus.
• Must be mechanically inclined and must have good interpersonal skills to be applied to day to day job duties.
• Autonomous, proactive approach and problem solving mindset is a must.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, may frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
