Job Description
The tool/fixturing designer is responsible for design and fabrication of tooling and fixturing for production/operations, and operations support; this includes all production value streams and their direct employees (value stream managers, and manufacturing engineers), operations test engineering (OTE manager, operations test engineers, and operations test technicians), and calibration (calibration technicians and engineers).
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Work with a valid requestor/customer to design and fabricate tooling, fixturing, adapters, and other custom machined equipment in alignment with tool design standards such as ergonomics and ease of use.
• Perform design validations prior to release, to end-use realistic-worst-case conditions (weight, torque, pressure, chemical reaction)
• Develop relationships internally and externally to assist in fabrication of components
• Capable of assembling, oxygen cleaning, and validating designs for production clean-room use
• Assist engineering prototyping efforts by providing feedback and design assistance (i.e. consulting, not drawing or fabricating) to design test engineering, with manufacturing engineering and production support
• Occasionally support engineering with fixturing and/or tooling that will be transferred to production
• Manage self and priorities to work efficiently and effectively while addressing productions greatest needs first

Job Requirements
Qualifications:
Education -
Required: High school diploma or GED, and additional 2-year trade/vocation education in related field
Preferred: Associate of Applied Science in relevant field
Experience –
Required: 2-3 years of experience designing computer aided drawings (CAD) and computer aided models (CAM) in industry
Preferred: 5+ years of experience designing computer aided drawings (CAD) and computer aided models (CAM) in industry
Special Knowledge/Skills -
Required:
• Proficient with Windows based PC and Microsoft Office Suite
• Read, interpret and understand specifications and schematics
• Ability to troubleshoot issues with tooling and fixturing
• Self-driven, organized, and out-of-the-box thinker
• Ability to communicate well verbally and prioritize tasks/jobs based on the needs of the company
• Ability to design three dimensional models and be capable of extrapolating two dimensional drawings with tolerances
• Experience with CAD & CAM software such as AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, Solidworks, and/or SpaceClaim
Preferred:
• Understanding of pneumatics (pressure, flow), electrical (DC and AC), and forces
• Oxygen safety and best practices
• Capability to operate lathes and mills; CNC and manual for each
