1) Occupational Summary:
Under close supervision, the Information Technology intern will work in the IT department with either a Desktop Technician focus or a Service Desk Focus. The IT intern will be involved in numerous ongoing initiatives and will have the opportunity to participate as a valuable member of the team by working directly with an assigned mentor to complete an assigned projects and other members of the IT department.
2) Duties and Responsibilities (essential functions depending on area assigned):
A) Imaging computers and configuring specific builds per user needs.
B) Deploying and testing new hire computer.
C) Interacting with walk-up customers to gather information and ensure that they have put in a ticket.
D) General computer hardware and software troubleshooting per ticket requirements.
E) Cleaning IT areas, breaking down boxes, and doing inventory of computer equipment as needed.
F) Performs other duties as required.
Service Desk Focus:
G) Acts as a point of contact for phone calls and emails from users regarding IT issues and inquiries Provides trouble shooting and maintenance for all users.
H) Assists in tracking help desk calls pertaining to application, networking, and systems problems and issues. This includes logging the call and entering ticket in IT ticketing system.
I) Provides hardware support for PCs and Laptops, such as installing replacement hardware or upgrading hardware.
J) Provides support for Apple mobile phones, such as setting up devices, troubleshooting and fixing issues, and upgrading software.
K) Performs other duties as required.
3) Qualification Requirements:
A) Knowledge and Skills:
i) Must have general DIY computer building and troubleshooting
ii) Must have PC repair skills
iii) Must have Windows 7 and 10 working knowledge
iv) Must be familiar with all MS Office Products.
v) Must be knowledgeable of Apple products
vi) Must have great customer service attitude and communication skills
B) Education and Experience:
In the process obtaining a Bachelor's degree in an Information Systems, Computer Science related field. Must be currently enrolled an accredited computer related program; in the upper level classes.
Acts in accordance with company values and related competencies.
D) Communication Skills:
Must have the ability to generate written communication and to operate required office equipment. Ability to read and review written communication. Speech and hearing abilities that allow individual to communicate clearly and distinctly in English.
E) Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve problems and think strategically.
4) Physical Demands:
This position requires extended periods of sitting while working with computers and viewing computer monitors, and other office equipment. Finger dexterity needed in using misc. office equipment such as telephone, typing, ten key, fax, copy machine etc. Bending, stoop
