Job Description

Level 1:
Performs structural analysis using defined analysis tools and industry standard approaches to validate and verify structure and components meet requirements and specifications. Level I Stress Engineer may participate in test activities to substantiate that requirements are meet. Works under close supervision.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Perform and document structural analysis to substantiate that requirements are meet
• Review and verify that drawings are in compliance with all strength requirements and all applicable FARs
• Write test plans and test reports
• Perform preliminary analysis, design support, and evaluate design trade studies
• Support drawing revisions and on-site crew in a timely manner during the aircraft modification
• Accepts responsibility for own work
• Communicates concerns in an accurate and timely manner
• Works constructively and communicates clearly in a team environment

Level 2:

Defines and documents analysis and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied. Works under general direction.

• Perform and document structural analysis to substantiate that requirements are meet
• Review and verify that drawings are in compliance with all strength requirements and all applicable FARs
• Write test plans and test reports
• Perform preliminary analysis, design support, and evaluate design trade studies
• Support drawing revisions and on-site crew in a timely manner during the aircraft modification
• Accepts responsibility for own work
• Communicates concerns in an accurate and timely manner
• Works constructively and communicates clearly in a team environment

Level 3:
Performs structural analysis using analysis tools and industry standard approaches to validate and verify structure and components meet requirements and specifications. Defines and documents analysis and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied. Works with minimal direction and provides technical assistance to less experienced engineering personnel.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Perform and document structural analysis to substantiate that requirements are meet
• Review and verify that drawings are in compliance with all strength requirements and all applicable FARs
• Write test plans and test reports
• Perform preliminary analysis, design support, and evaluate design trade studies
• Support drawing revisions and on-site crew in a timely manner during the aircraft modification
• Mentor to less experienced engineers
• Accepts responsibility for own work
• Communicates concerns in an accurate and timely manner
• Works constructively and communicates clearly in a team environment

Job Requirements

Level 1:
Knowledge/Experience
• Bachelor of Science degree required in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Aeronautical Engineering with an emphasis on structural analysis.



Skills/Abilities
• Basic knowledge of aircraft structure, materials strengths and properties, design criteria, loading conditions, and processes
• Skill and ability to collect, organize, synthesize, analyze data, summarize findings, develop conclusions, and recommendations from appropriate data sources.
• Proficient in using Microsoft Word and Excel
• Basic knowledge of computer aided design tools and systems

Level 2:
Knowledge/Experience
• Bachelor of Science degree required in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Aeronautical Engineering with an emphasis on structural analysis.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience preferred in structural analysis, ideally in the aerospace industry.



Skills/Abilities
• General knowledge of aircraft structure, materials strengths and properties, design criteria, loading conditions, and processes
• Proficient in standard (classical) hand calculation methods
• Skill and ability to collect, organize, synthesize, analyze data, summarize findings, develop conclusions, and recommendations from appropriate data sources.
• Experience in the application of the finite element analysis method of structural components
• Proficient in using Microsoft Word and Excel
• Basic knowledge of computer aided design tools and systems

Level 3:
Knowledge/Experience
• Bachelor of Science degree required in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Aeronautical Engineering with an emphasis on structural analysis.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience preferred in structural analysis, ideally in the aerospace industry.


Skills/Abilities
• Vast knowledge of aircraft structure, materials strengths and properties, design criteria, loading conditions, and processes
• Extensive knowledge of engineering analysis methods
• Skill and ability to collect, organize, synthesize, analyze data, summarize findings, develop conclusions, and recommendations from appropriate data sources.
• Experience in the application of the finite element analysis method of structural components
• Proficient in using Microsoft Word and Excel
• Basic knowledge of computer aided design tools and systems
