Job Description

1. Objectives and responsibilities:
The Supplier Performance Manager – Nacelle Readiness for Leap1C will establish the communication channels and processes to manage the performance (OTD, OTQ, production ramp-up…) of the C919 Nacelle supplier according to the Manufacturing & Supply Chain Requirement defined in the contractual documents. The Project Manager will ensure that the Nacelle supplier (and its relevant sub tiers) perform at a satisfactory level of, more specifically deliver on time products that meet the quality requirements.

Due to the uniqueness of the C919 program and of the relationship between CFM and its Nacelle supplier, the Supplier Performance Manager – Nacelle Readiness will work very closely to ensure the role and interactions are clear, well understood and valued by all parties. This context will make the implementation phase key to the success of the position. This position will evolve as processes mature during the various stages of the ramp-up.

As part of the Safran Aircraft Engine North American SPM team, the Supplier Performance Manager – Nacelle Readiness for Leap1C might be involved on annex duties related to the management of performance of other North American suppliers.

1.1. Establishing principle and Managing Performance:
The Supplier Performance Manager – Nacelle Readiness must:
• Define and validate delivery performance targets (OTD, OTQ, delivery ramp-up …) and means to measure their reliably.
• Update as appropriate the delivery plan consistently with the one agreed with COMAC
• Measure the performance achieved by the suppliers
• Present the performance measurements with the supplier & CFM team and ensure that the supplier owns the performance and its needed improvement as the case maybe.
• Build structure to enable optimum performance of both partners.
• Implement the appropriate operating rhythm (per typical SPM standards) with supplier.
• When occurring, analyze the root cause of non-performance and coordinate with the supplier, CFM teams in order to build and implement a plan to recover performance to the expected level.

1.2. Anticipating Risks
The Supplier Performance Manager – Nacelle Readiness must:
• Lead joint assessment (supplier + CFM) to evaluate the readiness of the supplier to meet future demand with satisfactory performance.
o These assessments are called “Baseline” and are reviewed at least every 6 months by executives of the suppliers and Safran
o These Baselines include: risk analysis on the supplier process and business, load and capacity analysis, reviews of the schedule of critical actions
o The Project Manager is responsible for tracking the actions that are defined during these Baselines
• Define the audit strategy of the supplier and lead such audits. For example: supplier maturity assessments, load/capacity, stress test (Run at Rate)

1.3. Improving supplier maturity and long term performance
The Supplier Performance Manager – Nacelle Readiness must:
• Coordinate with the supplier and CFM teams to build long-term performance improvement plans that reinforce the relationship between the Parties.
• Coordinate with the supplier and CFM teams to improve the robustness of the manufacturing process (reduce scraps, improve first time yield, and reduce lead-times…) and of the supply chain (sourcing strategy, inventory policies …)
• Support and/or conduct workshops focused on building improvement plan

2. Support activities
The Supplier Performance Manager – Nacelle Readiness is part of a broader team working with the supplier (including the Leap1C program, CFM contracts …). The Project Manager must coordinate with all other actors involved in the relationship with the supplier.
The Supplier Performance Manager – Nacelle Readiness attends and leads the presentation of the Annual Performance Review where performance is formally reviewed, and targets validated by executive management of CFM and of the supplier.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Required
Master's Degree – plus

10+ years of directly related experience
Operation management (production manager, workshop supervisor …)

Project Management
Supply Chain management (MRP2 concept, CPIM …)
Familiar to lean principles (Green Belt, 6-sigma …)
Ability to analyze data (familiar with Excel tools)
Change Management skills
Excellent communication skills (ability to summarize and convey complex messages)
Resilient to stress and pressure (that could result for performance crisis)
Focused on innovation and problem solving
Sensitive to cross cultural interactions / Ability & experience working in a multicultural / international environment
French Language a plus (or willing to learn French up to a basic level)
