Job Description

The North American SPM manager is in charge a team of Supplier Performance Manager (~12 Full Time Employees) that manage the performance of all Canadian, American and Mexican suppliers of Safran Aircraft Engines.
The North American SPM manager will be based in Cincinnati, OH and his team will be based in Cincinnati, OH and in Irvine, CA.

1. Roles
1.1. Managing and Coaching
The North American SPM manager is responsible for leading his/her team of SPMs.
In particular, the North American SPM manager will:
- Define and budget the staffing plans and then hire SPMs as needed
- Define and execute a coaching plan to develop the skills of the SPMs
- Manage SPMs individually to achieve the performance targets sets by the organization
- Forster team motivation and collaboration within the North American SPM team.

1.2. Supplier Performance
The North American SPM manager will oversee activities on 100+ suppliers of Safran Aircraft Engines across all commodities (material, accessories, repairs …). He/She will be in charge to improve supplier performance

In particular, the North American SPM manager will:
1. Manage supplier performance crisis to avoid the risks of assembly line and/or repair shop stoppages.
2. Manage the implementation of an action plan to reach 80% OTD and 1,500PPM.
3. Perform workshops with suppliers to improve their performance (kaizen events, lean 6-sigma, VSM, 5S …)
1.3. Risk Management
The North American SPM manager will be in charge of reducing the nonperformance risk exposure over the supplier portfolio
In particular, the North American SPM manager will:
1. Lead the comprehensive risks assessment process (called Baseline)
2. Lead the execution of the action plan to reduce suppliers risks levels
3. Lead the implementation of Business Continuity Plans at the suppliers
1.4. Coordinating the Safran team
The North American SPM manager is responsible for ensuring proper coordination between the North American team, the French team and the suppliers.
In particular, the North American SPM manager will:
1. Ensure proper coordination of the USA SPM team with the internal customers (CoE, Commodities, MRO shops...)
2. Ensure coordination with the other SPM teams (Europe, Asia)
3. Support the visits from France to North America
1.5. Development
The North American SPM manager is responsible for engaging his/her team in continuous improvement projects that go beyond the strict supplier management, performance improvement and risk mitigation.
In particular, the North American SPM manager will:
1. Participate in the digital transformation
2. Contribute to the CO2 footprint reduction on Safran Aircraft Engines supply chain
3. Lead his team and foster innovation ideas to improve current processes and tools

Complementary Description

2. Support activities
As a local representative of SAE, the role of The North American SPM manager is also to support other Safran locations (especially from France) to be in contact with the suppliers. As a result, the tasks might punctually extend beyond his/her standard activities.
Overall The North American SPM manager is expected to spend ~30% of his/her time visiting suppliers.
3. Experience and Skills
Applicants must hold either a Master of Science (M.S.) or a Master of Business Administration (MBA).
Applicants must have 10 years minimum of previous relevant experience.
Applicants must be fluent in French.
• Business Skills:
The applicants must have at least one the below experience in an industrial environment (preferred Aerospace or automotive):
- Experienced in operation management
- Experienced in Supply Chain management
- Experienced in project management
The applicants must be familiar with the LEAN principles (preferred Green Belt certified).
