Our Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) organisation partner with a range of global customers, working closely with major airlines such as British Airways, easyJet, Wizz Air, Iberia, Vueling, Air Canada, Etihad and Qatar.

What will I be doing?

Quality Management: Carrying out chemical analysis and solution management activities necessary to ensure a service that is effective and efficient whilst ensuring process specifications and COMAH compliance are adhered to. Health Safety and the Environment: Working to ensure compliance to Health Safety and Environmental legislation to ensure the health and welfare of, those working on site, visitors to site and members of the public who may experience an impact from the workplace environment and all its activities.
Continuous Improvement:
1. Optimising specifications, techniques and processes to ensure capability is synchronised with demand.
2. Assisting Engineering & supervision in the elimination of defects thus building quality into the processes employed.
3. Helping the Business to achieve new product and process capability including REACH compliance.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Analysis and management of vat solutions associated to salvage activity with an emphasis on Electro Plating. Ideally with experience of Zinc Nickel
• The compilation of vat analysis data and publishing results
• As part of the Laboratory team the preparation and testing of :
1. Test panels.
2. Salt Spray checks.
3. Lawrence Gauge Analysis.
4. Paint Strip controls (Corrosion & tensile testing).
• Assisting in the control and procurement of processing chemicals in line with COMAH requirements, the subsequent management of chemistry and its levels on site, live, stored and in the waste stream
• Working with Supervision & Engineering to resolve issues related to the chemistry and ancillary equipment
• Reviewing Process Control Specifications to ensure compliance to and the optimisation of specifications
• Maintenance and refinement of existing Works Procedures (WPs). Where appropriate the development of new WPs
• New product and process compliance. Responsibility for chemistry based gap analysis and related gap closing activity. Working as part of a project team or supporting project lead
• Quality Management System support. Provide laboratory support for internal & external audits (Quality/Suppliers/ MROs/WPs/Product & Customer)
• Provide technical support for designated Turnkey projects
• Working as part of the laboratory team in the management of the Metal Finishing Facility (MFF) plating plant. Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) for vats, ancillary and environmental equipment
• Plant management responsibilities:
1. Paint Strip analysis
2. Rig analysis
3. Calibration of Laboratory equipment

Job Requirements

• Substantive and demonstrable experience e.g. Engineering/Plating Apprenticeship or equivalent ideally gained in the aerospace or automotive sectors
• A comprehensive knowledge of electro-plating and its associated techniques
• Ability to carry out a wide range of electro plating analysis and familiarity with tools, techniques and equipment associated to said activity
• The ability to read and understand specifications and regulatory documentation. To use this information to its optimum effect whilst ensuring compliance
• A comprehensive process knowledge
• Experience with COSHH and the safe use and treatment of chemicals
• The ability to read methods and sequences of operations
• Demonstrate effective organisation and planning skills with the ability to manage personal workload
• Have a keen sense of “ Right First Time”
• Have good problem solving skills
• Excellent communication skills
• High attention to detail with strong quality awareness
• Familiar with Microsoft office
• Team working
• Self-managing and reliant
• Flexibility
• Must be willing to train and take learn new skills
• An understanding of Lean Sigma disciplines and 5s principles
• Involvement in continuous improvement activities to reduce shop processing times and manufacturing hours.
