Job Description

The post holder is required to:
• Support the HS&E Team deputising for others where necessary,
• Support the effluent treatment area through the analysis of samples.

The post holder will be required to:

• Analyse water treatment samples using ICP and other chemical processes to determine compliance with Legal discharge limits.

• Collection of ground water samples and submission to an external laboratory for analysis. Receipt of laboratory report and verification of values against legal limits.

• Collection of waste, energy and solvent usage figures from other Safran Departments (Purchasing, Store, Process Treatment etc.) Collation of data into reports for the Environment Agency and HSE with support and approval of HS&E Manager.

• Log and control the chemical database records for substances used on site. Gathering data from manufacturers and uploading new documentation into the IT systems.

• Support duty of care audits with the Environmental Advisor to verify waste disposal routes

• Support the logging and investigation of accidents, incidents, spills and near misses.

• Support risk assessments and impact assessments for operations and processes on site, identifying opportunities for greater control and protection.

• Support the entry of data into the Safran @ll-HSE software management system.

• Undertake other duties and activities under the supervision of the HS&E team as may be required in support of the team goals and objectives and in order to learn the operations of the department.


Complementary Description

Year 1: You will spend time at a private local engineering training provider where the relevant
qualification units will be delivered and assessed.
Year 2-3: Will be delivered and assessed within Safran where you will be required to achieve a
Level 3 Diploma. To support individual Development Plans, all apprentices will spend allocated
time to work in different departments according to each training needs

Job Requirements

They will need to have an interest and aptitude in Chemistry /Laboratory testing.
They must be able to demonstrate a high degree of discretion and sensitivity whilst maintaining confidentiality,
They must possess the interpersonal, communication and organisational skills to work effectively within the team.
Good IT skills would be advantageous.

5 GCSE's – including Maths and English - Grade A-C or 4-9
