Job Description


The Assembly Methods Manager is responsible for leading the Manufacturing Engineering team in Assembly, managing the day to day activities in support of the Assembly Lines, and coordinating the transformation main structural projects within Assembly.

Responsibilities include:

Manufacturing Engineering
• Main point of contact at SLS Gloucester for the management and prioritisation of Assembly Methods tasks.
• Maintain and monitor the workload of the team ensuring resource and time schedules are in line with the end users/customer expectations.
• Skilled in communicating any progress, risks, issues or changes to the customer utilising a variety of communication tools to accomplish this.
• Encourage, support and be accountable for initiatives to improve Quality, Cost and Delivery of the products at SLS Gloucester.
• Implement and inspire continuous improvement projects using innovative practices and processes to aid the end user and modernise assembly operations.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Work collaboratively, negotiate and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery compliance in line with the Head of Assembly's directive.
• Assembly focal for Test Equipment, holding regular supplier meetings to discuss supplier performance, issues and conflicts.

Assembly Transformation
• Establish the 5 years roadmap for Assembly in conjunction with the Head of Assembly
• Coordinate the projects forming the roadmap, run the Steering Committee and manage the communication to the various stakeholders.
• Establish the CAPEX justifications for the projects necessitating some capital investment.

Management prerequisites
• Ensure that all HSE rules are being adhered to by the members of the team.
• Ensure audits are appropriately prepared for and supported from a technical point of view.
• Control and manage the revenue budget for the department.
• Report on the activities of the team on a regular basis.
