Job Description

Are you interested in working at the business end of Aerospace, where airline brand meets innovative passenger experience? Then your next opportunity could be with Safran Seats, an industry award winning, premium designer and manufacturer of First and Business Class seating and technology. Our passenger experience prides itself on innovation, customisation, quality and industrial design.

At Safran Seats, we are unique within aerospace, as we interface with both the world's biggest airlines and airframers alike, with the largest seats portfolio of all seats suppliers. One day you could be liaising with one of the world's largest airframers, and the next, some of the biggest airline brands around the world!

In the UK, Safran Seats specialises solely in the First Class and Business Class seating markets for wide body aircraft, with industrial and engineering teams in Cwmbran and Newport, Wales and Brackley, England.

The primary activity of this role is the overall operational leadership of the Engineering teams that are working on early engagement and product line or platform projects. The role therefore demands constant attention to the progress of each project and to ensure that solutions are in place quickly when issues or risks are identified.

You will identify when significant decisions need to be made across the whole project portfolio to protect all other projects, potentially with impacts elsewhere. As such, you will have the responsibility for the maintenance and reporting of the overall engineering capacity and demand forecast on a monthly basis.

Main Duties & Responsibilities;
Lead the engineering projects teams and support them to achieve the technical and programme objectives of the projects – on a right first time and on time delivery basis within the project budgets.

For Early Engagement & Pre-Design :
Ensures adherence to the project plans for engineering activities and leads the engineering teams to maintain schedule;
Manages the global link to R&T, the architects, airframers, and airlines, calling upon Systems Engineering and Technical Audit to drive positive outcomes;
Ensures the SSGB total Engineering capacity and demand forecast is maintained and reported on a monthly basis, starting with the Local Development Review process;
Clearly defines the roles and responsibilities for Engineering PMO (including Project Engineers) and ensures that all engineering project teams are working consistently.

You will work closely with the VP of Engineering, Heads of Departments, Project Chief Engineers, and Programmes to ensure ongoing management and control of the teams. The balance of skilled resources across the projects must be managed constantly and will be your responsibility. The role requires ongoing and frequent communication with multiple stakeholders, including regular review with Executives and Senior Executives.
