Job Description

The Systems & MVP Engineer performs engineering activities in the early product life cycle and helps to shape future products of SPI's connectivity portfolio. The tasks cover critical engagement with emerging and upcoming communication technologies, both from a theoretical analysis as well as practical implementation perspective. Starting with sometimes very vague ideas or specifications, the Systems & MVP Engineer will use their engineering skills and creativity to assist in scoping initial versions of a product and build them to validate the business potential. A deep technical knowledge and genuine willingness to learn and keep up with current trends is required.

Your Tasks

• Translate customer needs into system requirements
• Identify suitable technologies to meet requirements
• Evaluate system design concepts
• Design, implement and document Minimal Viable Products (MVPs)
• Validate use cases and system design
• Transition findings and concepts to product engineering
• Support preparation of production proposal to customers
• Continuously contribute to improve established processes

Job Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in a related field
• 4+ years experience in complex system design (telecommunications, networking)
• Knowledge in the field of typical components required for communication devices (CPUs,
memories, switches, modems, WiFi, radios, etc.)
• Knowledge in network principles and protocols (TCP/IP, routing, switching, firewall, network
services, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, encryption, authentication, RADIUS, …)
• Knowledge of Linux, and programming/script languages, e.g. Bash, Python
• Affinity for documentation-intense processes
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills
• Proactive, organized and a team player mindset
• Self-organized, ability to work independently
• Ability to get up to speed with new concepts quickly
• Ability to efficiently identify, analyze and resolve problems
