Job description

As part of the internationally operating Safran Group, Safran Passenger Innovations Germany GmbH currently employs around 60 people in our office in Wessling, close to Munich. We have consistently prepared our innovative products with the help of our application-based research approach.


The successful candidate will be joining the Software Development team designing and creating our next generation of Inflight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC) systems. We're looking for a highly motivated and passionate Software Developer who can step up and contribute to that direction on an exciting 2 years mission.


As Software Developer Linux you are responsible for the development of our existing and new aeronautical products. As part of the software development team and in collaboration with project management you will be involved in requirements engineering, software architecture decisions, the software development itself as well as unit testing. Depending on the project you will be in exchange with other departments like software test and production. Integrating software and hardware from internal and external suppliers can be a part of your daily work. We configure our Linux operating systems by ourselves and depending on the project you can also get involved with IP networking topics. Depending on your expertise and personal preference you can be involved in leading the development of one or more software modules to have an even bigger impact on the future shape of our aeronautical products.

Your Tasks

  • - Define software requirements and architecture for our aeronautical products
  • - Develop software, implement unittests and maintain existing or new software components
  • - Engage in integration tasks of software and hardware from internal and external suppliers
  • - Take care of the build environment or integrate in existing environments
  • - Get involved in Linux operating system configurations of our products
  • - Chance to lead the further development of one or more software modules
  • - Document requirements and implementation details
  • - Be enthusiastic about Linux projects!

Job requirements

  • - Successfully completed studies in computer sciences or another comparable study program, or a successfully completed training in a comparable IT profession
  • - 3+ years of object-oriented software development experience
  • - Experience in defining software requirements is advantageous
  • - Very good knowledge of programming and script languages, e.g. C++, Python, Bash
  • - Experience in using third-party and open source libraries like Qt is advantageous
  • - Knowledge of programming languages for GUI development, e.g. JavaScript, HTML5 is advantageous

  • - IP network skills (packet routing, virtual machines) are advantageous
  • - Knowledge of software version control tools, Confluence and JIRA are advantageous
  • - Very good English communication skills, German communication skills are advantageous
  • - Be proactive, organized and a team player
