We are looking for a creative and innovative professional to join our team as Technical Project Manager in our Wessling facilities, close to Munich. The successful candidate will be joining the Research & Technology Development (R&T) team designing and prototyping our next generation of Inflight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC) systems. This spans across various domains including the communication infrastructure to network convergence, cloud computing and distributed application-driven ecosystems, where we are constantly thriving to deliver innovative concepts and solutions.

As a Technical Project Manager within R&T, you are expected to possess strong communication skills, with structured and goal-oriented way of thinking as well as good problem solving and time management skills. To push the R&T objectives of our organization, you will work with our team to deliver complex technical solutions and innovative prototypes to our internal and external R&T stakeholders. You will support the team in overall planning and execution of projects through the whole project life cycle, from organizing and running team meetings, to supporting systems engineering tasks, such as capturing use cases and requirements, architectures, V&V test cases.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • • Responsible for the planning, execution and reporting of the SPI contributions to German and European R&T programs.
  • • Responsible for the delivery of individual (sub) projects and work packages, taking into account the schedule, budget, risks, documentation and quality.
  • • Coordinate project activities with the R&T team and act as interface with internal and external stakeholders (including external subcontractors).
  • • Coordinate the development and implementation of testbeds, Proof-of-Concepts (PoC) and other demonstration setups as demanded by the project needs.
  • • Contribute to technical discussions and steer the project direction toward the defined goals and targets.
  • • Regular reporting of project status to internal stakeholders and to participate to strategy rounds for prioritization of activities, allocation of resources etc.
  • • Coordinate with team manager to ensure appropriate representation of needs within the R&T projects.
  • • Supporting and overseeing transfer of technology and knowledge within the team and between internal and external partners.
  • • Foster a culture of knowledge sharing and innovation.

Job requirements

  • • Master or Bachelor Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in Electrical engineering, physics, aerospace engineering, telecommunications or similar
  • • At least 4 years of professional experience in an R&D area across communication engineering, wireless technologies and/or cloud platforms, and thereof 2 years of leading technical projects
  • • Experience with Project Management tools (e.g., Trello, Kanban, Confluence, JIRA, MS Office applications including Excel, Project, etc.)
  • • Fluent written and oral skills both in English and German
  • • Working knowledge in national (German) and European research programs and processes is a plus
  • • Capable of negotiating mutually agreeable conclusions to conflicts
  • • Enjoy working independently, with minimal direction, on multiple concurrent tasks
