Job description

Job Location: Twinsburg, Ohio

This role will participate in all technical aspects of developing, designing, optimizing, and sustaining rotating electric machines (generators, motors, starter-generators) including R&T (research and technology), B&P (bids and proposals), concept design, development, testing, analysis, qualification, V&V (verification and validation), support of launch, manufacturing and through life support. The role requires experience in mechanical design combined with an ability to remain technically involved with the full development lifecycle of the project.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • • Perform development and design duties for components and assemblies, including but not limited to CAD design, drafting, technical reviews, tolerance stack-ups, author appropriate documentations, all in accordance with the internal procedures and industry standards
  • • Participate in the mechanical design team activities to achieve company goals and objectives, with a focus on technical performance, production, cost of products and adherence to project schedules and budgets
  • • Interact and communicate effectively with other groups internally (engineers, analysts, testing, quality, supply chain, manufacturing) and externally (suppliers, customers and partners)
  • • Actively participate in testing, including but not limited to creation of test plans and procedures, writing of tests reports, technical reports and project schedules, take ownership, monitor and oversee tests
  • • Other duties may be assigned
  • • Evening/night/week-end hours may be required
  • • Extra hours may be required during business peaks

Work Environment:
Typical office environment requiring the use of typical office equipment (i.e. computers, phones, etc.) Computer keyboarding, computer monitor and mouse use including reaching forward, grasping, finger and wrist manipulation and neck bending and turning; near vision is necessary for computer monitor use.

Physical Demands:
This position sits and performs computer work for extended periods of time

Job requirements

Experience and Education:

  • • B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. M.S. preferred.
  • • Minimum 2 years relevant experience with B.S.
Technical Knowledge / Skills
  • • Knowledge in design and development of mechanical systems, including ability to use 3D modeling, simulation, and testing.
  • • Knowledge in high-speed rotating machinery (generators, motors, pumps, blowers) including rotor dynamics, bearing systems, and centrifugal forces is a plus.
  • • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office and Solid works is required, knowledge of ANSYS is a plus.
  • • Knowledge of linear and nonlinear FEA simulations is a plus.
  • • Understanding of electro-magnetics is a plus.
  • • Knowledge of aerospace standards and certification requirements is a plus.
  • • Ability to organize and manage shared project data
  • • Capability and tenacity to solve unique engineering challenges, including a knack for asking the right questions.
  • • Interest for mechanical and aerospace engineering and technology.
  • • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • • Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
