Summary
This role is a technical leadership role. The main focus will be leading software verification activities on a program basis and unifying requirements-based verification across the department. This will include oversight in items like development of automated testing, optimization of software test scope, regulatory compliance in verification, automated testing infrastructure, and hardware-software integration testing.
The person in this role will be expected to stay up-to-date with trends in the industry to keep the department on the leading edge. This role will also include training and development opportunities so that this position can develop into a broader leadership role over time. This role may include tasking outside of verification depending on where the programs are on the development cycle.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • • Lead Software Verification activities in the software group, influencing external stakeholders to meet business objectives
  • • Work directly on programs, but also drive uniformed software verification standards across all programs.
  • • Adapt ways of working to evolving product lines, new regulations, internal standards, and new tooling
  • • Determine test cases required to appropriately test software for quality and adherence to regulatory requirements
  • • Develop and review software requirements
  • • Technical responsibility for the hardware and software behind the software testing infrastructure.
  • • Act as a representative to stakeholders including Customers and Regulatory Agencies
  • • Debug systems that consist of both software and hardware
  • • Support other activities as necessary as part of power system development
  • • Produce level of effort estimates for active programs and proposals
  • • No regular travel is required
  • • Extra hours may be required during business peaks
  • • Adhere to all safe work practices and contributes to the health, safety, and environmental program and culture

Job requirements

Education and/or Experience Required:

  • • A B.S. in Electrical, Computer, Software, Systems Engineering, or equivalent degree
  • • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a software development environment


Knowledge and Skills

  • • Experience with requirements-based software testing of systems consisting of hardware and software
  • • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and ability to learn new software
  • • Leadership experience or a desire to lead
  • • Capable of working on projects in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • • Able to build relationships with internal and external customers
  • • Enthusiastic, with a drive for results
  • • Ability to multi task and work in a fast paced environment
  • • Capable of reading schematics, using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other electrical testing equipment


Preferred Skills:

  • • Masters in Engineering, Business, or equivalent degree
  • • Experience working in a regulated environment such as ARP4754A, DO-178C, IEC 61508, or military.
  • • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a software development environment
  • • Experience writing or reviewing requirements in a regulated industry (Aerospace, Automotive, Medical, etc).
  • • Capable of reading schematics, using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other electrical testing equipment
  • • Experience using C, C++ with microcontrollers in an embedded environment
  • • Experience with DOORS, Integrity, or other requirements management tools
  • • Experience with Labview, Vectorcast, or other automated testing software
  • • Experience with Agile or other iterative models
  • • Experience with power electronics
