Summary
The ideal candidate for this role is in their early to mid-career and aspiring to take on more of a leadership role within the world of avionics software engineering; or a current early leader looking to broaden their leadership responsibilities. This role will provide access to a clear development path to lead projects of varying scope and complexity.

We will set up this team member with formal mentoring by our senior engineers and/or leaders. This mentor will help guide the development process.
The employee in this role will have opportunities to lead site-wide initiatives. This may include leading an internal team or coordinating a site wide event. There is also ample opportunity to build relationships outside of software engineering, learn valuable leadership lessons, and provide value to the site.
Twinsburg, Ohio is the Software Center of Excellence for Safran Electrical and Power. The person in this role will be expected to stay up-to-date with trends in the industry to keep the department on the leading edge and drive changes throughout the division. This individual will be expected to challenge the norms and continuously look for ways to improve the way we operate. This person will be part of the core team, driving the future of the department.

Job requirements

Education and/or Experience Required:

  • • A B.S. in Electrical, Computer, Software, Systems Engineering, or equivalent degree
  • • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a software development environment (can include internships and co-ops)

Knowledge and Skills

  • • Experience with software development and test in systems consisting of hardware and software
  • • Leadership experience and/or a desire to lead
  • • Capable of working on projects in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • • Able to build relationships with internal and external customers
  • • Enthusiastic, with a drive for results
  • • Ability to multi task and work in a fast paced environment
  • • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and ability to learn new software

Preferred Skills:

  • • Masters in Engineering, Business, or equivalent degree
  • • Experience with Agile or other iterative models
  • • Experience working in a regulated environment such as ARP4754A, DO-178C, IEC 61508, or military.
  • • Experience writing or reviewing requirements in a regulated industry (Aerospace, Automotive, Medical, etc).
  • • Experience with requirements-based design and test
  • • Experience using C, C++ with microcontrollers in an embedded environment
  • • Experience with DOORS, Integrity, or other requirements management tools
  • • Experience with Labview, Vectorcast, or other automated testing software
  • • Experience with power electronics
  • • Capable of reading schematics, using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other electrical testing equipment

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Lead projects of varying scope and complexity influencing stakeholders to meet business objectives.
* Perform activities across the full software development lifecycle including but not limited to requirements development, software development, test engineering, process design, and peer reviews.
* Drive daily standups and sprint planning activities within the Agile framework
* Lead process improvement activities and share best practices with the software organization locally and throughout the division
* Prepare for and participate in customer audits
* Debug systems that consist of both software and hardware
* Support other activities as necessary as part of power system development
* Produce level of effort estimates for active programs and proposals
* Extra hours may be required during business peaks
* Adhere to all safe work practices and contributes to the health, safety, and environmental program and culture
