Manufacturing/Operations Internship Assignment
Location: Sarasota, FL
Start Date: January, 2021
Objectives:
Plan, manage, and complete small/medium Manufacturing/Operations projects.
Support Operations Manager/Value Stream Managers in daily tactical and long-term strategic continuous Improvement
Develop reporting and data-capture tools/techniques to track various tools Operation-centric KPIs.
Develop and define supporting business process to improve Manufacturing capacity planning and tracking
Conduct Time studies for known and assumed production constraints for highest volume products
Key Tasks:
Manufacturing/Operations Time tracking and capacity planning
Implement Time tracking business process within manufacturing organization.
Lead Operator software and hardware training to capture real-time product TPT.
Update product routers and other supporting documentation as required.
Implementation of time tracking system and tools to support low mix high volume manufacturing.
Primary, on-the-floor support troubleshooting of software issues encountered during time tracking system deployment
Develop enterprise-level reporting tools and systems to align with manufacturing business objectives.
Support software interaction with SAP system to transact ELH moves. Develop data system that could automate and improve capacity planning interaction with SAP to comprehend manufacturing floor constraints. Likely would include some Time study assessments for machines and subsequent router updates
Automate ELH movement and improve BI reporting
Daily manufacturing support as required.
Test Equipment Upgrade support
Support ATE upgrades – Working under in partnership with VSM or Production test manager to upgrade and replace several ATE hardware systems. Real time troubleshooting experience on current floor equipment
Participate in Equipment quoting process and vendor selection process.
Liaison between Manufacturing Operators, VSMs, Engineering and Test equipment teams to translate manufacturing needs into tangible equipment design features and capability
Job requirements
Skills Required:
Working knowledge of Manufacturing process flows
Knowledge and understanding of primary manufacturing performance indicators (i.e. TPT, CT, On-Time-Delivery/Schedule, Productivity, First Pass Yield, etc.)
Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement basics
Industrial Engineering principles basics
Manufacturing process analysis and documentation
Microsoft Excel
SPC basics
Project planning and organization skills.
Positive attitude, responsible, proactive, self-motivating, and the ability to learn efficiently and under pressure.
Highly results oriented.
Skills desired, but not required:
Microsoft Office tool usage (Power Point, Excel, Word)
Capacity Planning simulation modeling
Hands-on problem solver
Knowledge of basic Electrical analysis equipment (Oscilloscope, multimeter, power supply)
Self-learner and self-motivated to research and apply learnings
Work well in teams and individually
Training/Experience Required:
Overall GPA 3.0 or above
Preferred candidate should have completed 3+ years of cumulative college or university course work leading to Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate Degrees in an engineering or technology discipline. IE or Operations Management is preferred, however all disciplines will be considered.
Previous Military experience- Leadership/supervision is a plus
