Job description

Operational Excellence (OpEx) Project Engineer will be responsible for developing the facility's OpEx Practices and Procedures through team-based project management. Engineer will establish and improve manufacturing, supply, engineering, and transactional process flows. They will also lead, mentor, and train project teams in Lean Six Sigma Fundamentals, and lead improvement activities and events, working directly with management and other staff in order to create an efficient, organized, and profitable facility. This job reports to the OpEx Project Engineering Manager and/or Director of Quality/OpEx/Industrialization.
1. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Drive performance improvements through problem-solving, root cause identification and corrective action. Implement ambitious improvement projects using the Lean Sig Sigma method i. Define the parameters of the project (gains, scope, team, etc,) ii. Use relevant Lean Six Sigma Tools and method to address the issue(s) in question iii. Report on project progress B. At the request of Management Committee or an operational department, identify potential initiatives C. Lead and facilitate project performance review meetings, employee idea generation and implementation, and project closure and share best practices. D. Create and/or support Lean/Six Sigma/OpEx Processes (5S+1, DMAIC, etc.) and provide applicable training. E. Create Value Stream Maps, Visual Management Controls, and facilitation and execute throughput and lead-time improvements. F. Drive standard work, work instructions, and process auditing. G. Lead performance management in production and other departments, drive improvement initiatives, manage and improve KPI's across processes, review schedule adherence, communicate success and goal completion. H. Develop high performing teams through personal development discussions, reinforcing accountabilities, and coaching/mentoring/facilitating teams to drive deliverables. I. Active management in training Lean Six Sigma foundations.

2. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
A. Knowledge and skills:
Required Experience or Knowledge: Manufacturing r Assembly Operations (Aerospace preferred) Knwledge of project and risk management Knwledge of Lean Six Sigma Tools and Methods preferred Descriptin: Technical Level
Required Skills or Areas of Expertise: Lean Six Sigma Methdology preferred Prblem Solving (DMAIC, PDCA, 8D, etc.) Prject and Risk Management and Scheduling Facilitatin and coaching of teams and/or projects Micrsoft Office Windws Operating System MRP/ERP Systems Interpersnal Skills (time management & communication)
Leadership f cross-functional teams Team-based prblem solving Organizatinal Skills Persnal Management Skills
Preferred Skills Facility Layut and Design AutCAD or similar software experience 3D Mdeling experience (CATIA, Solidworks, ProE, etc.) GD&T and Metrlogy AS9100
A. Education and/or Experience:
Manufacturing Engineering Degree or Similar Experience: 1-3 years in Manufacturing Operations Experience: 2-3 years in Lean Six Sigma or PMP

B. Communication Skills:
Excellent organizational and communication skills to include proficiency in: Microsoft Office Email with internal and external customers Escalation of project risks and status Conflict resolution Training groups of people Presentation and public speaking at all levels of an organization (CEO to floor worker)
C. Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited data and time exists. Good trouble shooting skills and strong communication skills required. Ability to read engineering drawings, specifications and other related literature is necessary.
