Job description

The Quality Engineer maintains the Quality management system. He/she analyses all documentation related to production of first articles and prepares the reports to secure deliveries. As quality representative, he/she actively contributes to the continuous improvement of the production site. The Quality specialist contributes to the deployment of the quality assurance policies and procedures. Acting as an expert, he/she conducts training on quality assurance concepts and tools. This job reports to a Quality Assurance Supervisor.

Summary of duties:

Pilot production of First Article Inspection Reports (FAI) with all departements involved
Update status of First Article Inspection reports in the internal management system
Validate First Article inspection reports submitted by suppliers
Consolidate and validate inspection data with the support of Production and Quality Control teams
Submit the FAIR to the customers using Net-Inspect
Defines and deploy key performance indicators and act as quality focal point for internal and external communication
Contributes to the update of the quality documentation system
Maintains Compliance to the Quality Management System AS9100
Reviews and signs Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and engineering drawings
Approves work orders prior to release to ensure engineering operations are properly documented
Trains key actors of the business unit to the management of first articles
Manages internal and external non-conformities and identifies recurring issues
Actively participates in continuous improvement applying problem solving methodologies (QRQC, 5 Whys, 8D etc.)
Contributes to major continuous improvement projects (Lean, Six Sigma)
Participates to the execution of the internal audits in the frame of the audit program
Actively participates in risk and opportunity assessments (PFMEA)

Job requirements

Education: BS degree is preferred or equivalent experience in a technical field.
Experience: 5 years of experience within the quality environment in manufacturing industry. Experience in the development of new aircrafts is an asset.
Computer Skill: Familiar with Windows Operating System®, Office XP®, and with MRP systems. Previous experience in Net-Inspect is an asset.
Other Skills: Excellent skill in transversal coordination and strong communication skills required. Ability to read engineering drawings, specifications and other related literature is necessary, strong knowledge of ISO 9001 / AS9100. Internal auditor certified. Notions of Continuous improvement and risk analysis.
