The goal of this training period in the design office of Safran Nacelle in France is to improve the performance of a sub component of the nacelle, by defining a new concept at the right mass.
The nacelle is located in a severe environment between the engine and the aircraft and its optimization requires both design and stress abilities.
So, we are looking for 1 or 2 motivated students in mechanical engineering willing to learn methodologies used for new developments, i.e. design and/or structural substantiation.
Pair working is possible, i.e. 1 trainee for the design and 1 trainee for the stress.

Detail :
The schedule of this training period will happen in 5 steps :

  • - Learning of the product, design & stress methodologies used to develop this Nacelle component
  • - Analysis of the current design and stress results to define the improvement opportunities
  • - Realization of the preliminary design (CATIA and hand calculation)
  • - Realization of the detailed design (CATIA) and stress analysis (NASTRAN or hand analysis)
  • - Realization of a presentation explaining the best compromise
Skills to use the following tools are required : CATIA and/or NASTRAN
