Job description

Production Support Engineers main functions include:

finding solutions and fixes for process rejects, streamlining work scopes when creating or adding extra work to Proplans in line with repairs.

Raising and implementing 8D investigations, daily input and support to QRQC, lead lean sigma initiatives in a facilitating / support capacity, eliminate waste activity thorough standardisation, drive out operating and working capital cost.

Liaise and be the focal point with Safran OEM engineering in the progression of new repairs & concessions & development of process and tooling improvements will be the primary focus of this role.

This is a key position in the business where you will work alongside all process experts and with the Management team to minimise waste and improve productivity and efficiency.

  • • Acting as a key focal point from all shop floor areas, you will be allocated work on a daily basis and need to identify key priorities. Parts will need assessing and the correct rework chosen; you will log the reject and find a suitable solution for the part.
. You will be responsible for creating detailed Proplans and using these within your workings to find the correct and most efficient solution, utilising OEM specifications and in-house work procedures.
  • • You will resolve shop floor issues, which vary from having an expired CMM ,incorrect Proplans, extra work editions, process recovery to spec and providing general advice where needed.
  • • To ensure all non-compliances are managed efficiently to ensure accurate reporting, timely closure and robust containment & corrective actions are in place. To include but not limited to; quality escapes, customer returns, quality improvement actions, you will either own or act as a technical resource to manage the effective and efficient close out of NCRs, QCPs, 8D's,QRQC.
  • • To lead the development of tooling requirements in accordance with regulatory requirements, including design, maintenance, reliability & repeatability in accordance with business procedures
  • • To lead the lean sigma initiatives in a facilitating / support capacity in order to identify and eliminate waste activity, promote thorough standardisation and drive out operating and working capital cost.
  • • Company audit responsibility in all guises (ie) sub contract suppliers, internal WP & QCP compliance, product, scrap review support, customer interface where required.
  • • You will plan your workload effectively, at all times utilising the time to process map and identify improvements.
  • • Reviewing and sharing technical document updates, comparing with other Group sites and making any necessary updates.

Job requirements

  • • Apprentice trained or equivalent
  • • HNC/HND
  • • Within a technical metal finishing setting: inspection/NDT/ machining.
  • • Comprehensive product and process knowledge.
  • • Within aerospace industry.
  • • Strong attention to detail but without getting fixated on the finer details.
  • • Produce work to a high standard within reasonable timescales.
  • • Key communicator with confident decision making abilities.
  • • A thorough understanding and pragmatic application of applicable processes, procedures and compliances.
  • • Effective organisation and planning skills with the ability to manage personal workloads.
  • • Flexible approach, open minded and keen sense of “right first time”
