Job description

Duties and Responsibilities (essential functions):
A) Development and publication of pricing proposals and spares quotes based on information obtained from various functional areas within the organization. Duties involved in preparing pricing proposals include, but may not be limited to:
i) Obtain and analyze historical material and labor data using MAPICS standards, average actual data from computer queries, purchasing quotes and estimates based on similarity, drawings or engineering sketches.
ii) Prepare recurring cost estimates based on analysis of historical data. Recurring pricing may cover seating, modification kits, and/or spares parts.
iii) Use bid rate data prepared by Accounting and estimates of future inflation/deflation to prepare direct cost data.
iv) Work with engineering, tooling, certification, purchasing, and technical publication departments to develop estimates of non-recurring expenses.
v) Use margin guidelines provided by General Manager and President to develop recommended pricing, both recurring and non-recurring.
vi) Work with engineering and production to develop initial delivery commitment and if available, the complete delivery schedule.
vii) Prepare terms and conditions package including price, delivery, estimated weights, escalation formula, warranty, and BFE exhibits.
viii) Prepare technical proposals and drawings as required.
ix) Review price proposal/spares pricing with Manager of Estimating and be prepared to answer questions posed by Management when proposal level requires such approval level.
x) Coordinate the shipping of price proposal/spares pricing to customer and/or appropriate person(s) who requested price quote.
xi) On customer inquiries pertaining to the data found in the price proposal/spares quote, gather information from appropriate functional areas and prepare response to inquiry.
B) Assist department manager in the review of customer purchase orders and Program Manager input sheets as compared to pricing proposals and subsequent revisions prepared for related effort.
C) Preparation of yearly pricing escalation factors, based on published labor indices and material commodity indices. These factors are communicated to appropriate Program Manager for use in making appropriate adjustments to customer orders.
D) Preparation of termination claims for submittal to customer. Claims are prepared on orders I which the customer has canceled a portion or all of the requirements. Duties include:
i) Gathering of actual cost data on excessive materials generated because of the cancellation, vendor cancellation charges, actual non-recurring and recurring costs incurred on the order up to the date of the cancellation, estimated storage costs and estimated shipping costs.
ii) Preparation of claim, in a format which can easily be digested by customer.
iii) Review of claim with management, customer service, marketing, and accounts receivable.

Job requirements

Qualification Requirements:
A) Knowledge and Skills:

i) Skilled in the use of computers (mainframe and personal) and software applications (mainframe, spreadsheet, and word processing).
ii) Understanding of manufacturing operations and processes, the ability to break down products into component parts and material requirements, read and understand labor routings and assess material, labor and non-recurring requirements.
iii) Knowledge of cost accounting practices, including direct costing and the collection of actual costs via work orders (both recurring and non-recurring cost data).
iv) Skilled in mathematics – arithmetic, algebra, statistical analysis, logic, and learning curve analysis.
v) Ability to read drawings, technical specifications, and service bulletins.
vi) A business oriented individual with a combination of skills encompassing cost estimating, production procedures, engineering language and procedures, accounting process and computer applications.

Education and Experience:
i) A Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, finance or engineering or equivalent (6 years) training and experience is required. In addition to meeting the education requirement, must have a 2 years combined experience in a related area encompassing cost estimating, manufacturing engineering, pricing and proposal, and/or cost accounting.

E) Maintain weekly RFQ Status Report. The report delineates open Requests for Quotes, proposals completed for the week and Request for Quotes on hold.
F) Maintain estimating files, history, and cross reference data.Perform other tasks, related
G) Catalogs
i) Creating internal and external yearly catalogs, as dictated by company guidelines established by the V.P. of Aftermarket (or whomever), and contractual agreements.
ii) Auditing and publication of external yearly catalog's.
iii) Monitoring and maintaining internal yearly catalogs through-out the year.
iv) Work with Aftermarket personnel (CSR's/Manager/Director/S. Tan/B. Yeo) to investigate and make internal and external catalog adjustments.
H) ProcessIT
i) Main function is to be the internal Administrator of ProcessIT for spare pricing pursuits.
ii) Understand the general operation of how ProcessIt works to establish the pricing of spare parts.
iii) Work with the spare pricing pursuit initiator, Planning, and Purchasing personnel to maintain the flow of spare pricing pursuits.
iv) When alerted to problems in the workflow, work with the appropriate personnel to resolve the issues internally.
v) When alerted to problems requiring external assistance, have the ability to clearly communicate the problems and work with Workflow to find resolutions.
vi) Work with the buyers/procurement team to improve our cost price if nescessary
