Job description

Duties and Responsibilities (essential functions):
Identify, establish, negotiate, and maintain agreements with a global supply base to support SSUSA businesses with products or services, purchased directly or indirectly, for the manufacture or assembly of products sold to our customers ensuring that all customer flow down requirements are included.
Maintain all Long Term Agreements (LTA) contracts to ensure that renewals and other date sensitive requirements are met and communicate the status to all SSUSA locations.
Ensure that adequate technical information is present on contract documents to support desired product receipts. May include requests for specification or drawing changes, and attaching additional requirements to item master which will flow out onto the purchase order.
Create, initiate, and analyze all Requests for Information (RFI), Request for Quote (RFQ), Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), Long Term Agreements (LTA), Pricing or Service Agreements, and other strategic procurement initiatives with suppliers or commodities shared across SSUSA and other SAFRAN companies that meet the commodity and supply base rationalization strategy along with company and corporate cost objectives.
Identify and establish a supply base that can support engineering prototype and development work on all new programs.
Develop a commodity strategy that identifies which existing suppliers are preferred, essential, or to be de-sourced along with where opportunity suppliers may exist and the strategy to bring them on-board to include government business classifications and keep such records for audit requirements.
Analyze commodities and markets for trends in pricing and supply to make recommendations and engage in actions that will protect SSUSA/SAFRAN and improve the supply position without any adverse financial impact.
Maintain the Supplier Profile to reflect the latest and most accurate information.
Develop policies and procedures on the preparation of and review of contracts, bids, proposals, and supplier agreements for legal correctness, price, and acceptability of items to specifications to include payment/shipping terms and other commercial requirements.
Develop commodity pricing reduction goals and strategies that are in line with company and corporate targets, product margins, and sales strategies.
Conduct on-site technical evaluations/assessments on suppliers and sub-tiers, as necessary, to ensure suppliers have the processes/procedures/systems to meet SSUSA and customer specifications, requirements, and approvals (ASL).
Assist in the assignment of supplier status based upon the Safran Status Pyramid and transition of work to preferred suppliers.

Qualification Requirements:

Knowledge and Skills:
Related experience is required; five years of prior purchasing/sourcing experience in positions of progressing responsibility with specific experience managing direct spend of composites and plastics.
The following are preferred:
Familiarity with composites and plastics manufacturing processes, including hand lay-up, and Resin Transfer Molding (RTM), and thermoforming. Carbon fiber experience is a plus.
Experience with electronics based commodities.
Direct material sourcing & procurement experience utilizing global supply chains for products/components generally comprised of composites, plastics and electronics.
Ability to map supply chains and overcome obstacles, both internal and external, by presenting facts to support projects' value to the business. Work with internal stakeholders to overcome objections
Strong background in building strategic relationships with suppliers and internal customers or stakeholders
Ability to work without close supervision; self-directed

Education and Experience:

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business management or related discipline or 6 years related experience in lieu of Bachelor's level degree to meet the education requirement. OR Requires an Associate's degree in a related business management or related engineering discipline and 3 years related experience in lieu of Bachelor's level degree to meet the education requirement.
In addition to meeting the education requirement, requires an additional 5 years' experience in a Supply Chain Management, Logistics or Business management environment/exposure.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Work with the SQE function to prevent or resolve quality issues that could impact business growth, disrupt supply chain, and drive supplier development between business units (Gainesville and Chihuahua)
Participate in supplier sourcing reviews for new and existing programs together with related sub functions and assist in the development of criteria for RFI/RFQ packages to ensure that all quality elements are covered and contained.
Link spend analysis, compliance tracking, sourcing execution, commodity strategy, and supplier performance to ensure greater control and secure savings.
Work with applicable sub functions to develop / optimize supplier qualification and assessment criteria.
Review monthly supplier performance metrics and work with the SD & SQE sub functions on a strategy and actions for any supplier not meeting the supplier performance criteria for SSUSA.
Communicate with the supply base on production rate changes, new program introductions, and business awards to assess their rate readiness and to develop contingency plans if necessary.
Participate in program and design reviews as required.
Supplier Assessments. (Production Readiness, Compliance, Process etc)
Work with SD and SQE to re-source those items for which existing suppliers have become problematic. May include the presentation of different or modified designs to Design Engineering for consideration.

Specificity of the job

~20%, 3-5 days per month, primarily within North America. Limited International travel as appropriate to support commodity strategy
