We have a vacancy for a Senior Design Engineer (CATIA 5) to support our customer based in Cwmbran, in the development of aerospace cabin interiors.

Key responsibilities of the role will include:
1. Lead Design activities and act as a Technical Focal for projects.
2. Manage the execution of the work packages identified and ensure the convergence of the delivery plans with customer requirements.
3. Define the budgets required for the execution of work packages identified.
4. Coordinate the allocation and execution of technical activities between him/herself, other team members on site and the offsite team.
5. Define design solutions for new components / assemblies and modifications to existing components (composites mainly and, metallic) according to cost, weight, quality, manufacturability, serviceability and performance.
6. Provide evidence of design compliance with Customer /Technical specifications.
7. Prepare drawings and other engineering data required for the manufacturing of the product and data submittal to the customer.
8. Produce ECN as required to support manufacturing, customers, quality and certification.
9. Ensure own and teams quality of deliveries. Verify check and sign off on programme co-workers' engineering drawings.
10. Lead the progress review meetings with the customer project team to report progress on the work packages.
11. Report KPI and alignment with budget for work packages in progress and deliveries.

Complementary description

The successful candidate should be educated to degree level or equivalent, (MSc preferred) with a minimum of 5 years experience in Design of composites and / or metallic components

Job requirements

Excellent knowledge of Aerospace cabin interior systems (Galleys, seats ...)
Excellent knowledge of computerized design and analysis methods (CATIA 5)
Must be able to demonstrate experience with GD&T (tolerance stack up)
Good experience of aerospace composite (honeycomb/metallic materials and manufacturing processes)
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
Knowledge of SmarTeam
Customer focused / ability to establish credibility with internal and external customers
Working knowledge of SAFRAN BMS documents, ECR's, permits, concessions.
Understanding of stress principles.
Good English verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work effectively within an integrated project team
Awareness of PM+ methodology.
