Job description

Summary of Job Purpose: Perform dimensional inspection on a diversified of standard and/or critical lenses, and, lens assemblies in the Optics inspection area. Assemble and Deburr items while maintaining part specifications. Perform bonding of acrylic and glass.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • • Perform final dimensional inspection of lenses, legend cards for conformance to blueprints and engineering specifications
  • • Manufacture product by operating mill glass cutting machine
  • • Basic knowledge of machine shop equipment such as conventional mills and lathes
  • • Manufacture product by operating mill glass cutting machine
  • • Assemble and Deburr items in functional area or other departments as needed
  • • Maintain First pass yield log on a daily basis.
  • • May be asked to assist in customer audits as required.
  • • Process and complete required quality documentation
  • • Tag and ship completed work orders
  • • Interface with Product Support Engineer to resolve quality issues
  • • Layouts for acceptable standards of machine ability and conformance to blueprints and engineering specifications
  • • Approve or reject products and/or components
  • • May assist in inspection of inspectors of lower classification
  • • Approve or reject products and/or components
  • • Work with minimum supervision
  • • Use a variety of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, vernier calipers, test sets, and gauging equipment
  • • Assist with devising dimensional gauging set-ups, perform part layout inspection and assist in establishing part inspection procedures.

Required Competencies:
Basic Qualifications

  • • High school education or GED equivalent
  • • At least 4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • • Legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship
  • • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the
  • • International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident(i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee
  • • No relocation is offered for this position so we will only consider candidates within a 50 mile radius of the facility

Job requirements

Skills and Abilities:

  • • Use of shop mathematics, clear understanding of drawings and specifications, knowledgeable in machining and can demonstrate the use and results from measuring devices.
  • • Ability to read and write English

Physical Requirements:

  • • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.
  • • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
