Job description

The Software Engineer (IV) works in our fast-paced business environment without direction, to design and develop functioning software for computer-based systems and customer applications. As a technical leader, this individual partners with the internal customers, and airline customers to understand feature requests. He/She works with everyone in the organization to plan and create value for the customer. This individual mentors less experienced product developers regardless of team, along with guiding the product development organization and applies principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, mathematical analysis, and systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • • Take ownership of the RAVE product when developing, maintaining and improving software
  • • Demonstrate passion for continuous improvement
  • • Identify work and ensure the team is focused on providing high and meaningful value
  • • Understand and exhibit behavior in alignment with Agile and Lean principles
  • • Have personal ownership of quality (i.e., do no harm)
  • • Hold anyone in the product development organization accountable for agreements made
  • • Create new and update existing feature description, system test, product delivery, and process documentation
  • • Act as a technical leader in multiple domains and take ownership of multiple documentation sets
  • • Perform unit test driven development (uTDD) and automated test-driven development (ATDD)
  • • Provide guidance, cross-training, and support within the product development organization
  • • Provide realistic estimates, foster a culture of transparency, and meet agreed upon commitments
  • • Communicate with stakeholders, users, and/or customers when participating in, contributing to, and gaining approval for designs and specifications by example
  • • Demonstrate effective situational leadership
  • • Actively participate, engage, and provide leadership in all meetings and ceremonies
  • • Triage and resolve full-stack problems
  • • Fix problems in the code base found in continuous integration
  • • Contribute to and help maintain the continuous delivery system (i.e., modify existing or create new test scripts, build or packaging architecture)
  • • Lead software integration, system, and acceptance testing efforts
  • • Analyze reports, recommend, develop, and maintain automated test tools, architectures, and strategies
  • • Identify, recommend, and implement/resolve corrective action for procedural, product, and process deficiencies
  • • Construct test fixtures, along with evaluating and using test equipment
  • • Consult with and provide guidance to stakeholders on projects, proposals, and technical issues such as software, hardware, and system design, functionality, and support
  • • Organize, lead, and facilitate internal communities of practices
  • • Recommend and assist in the implementation of organizational process change

Job requirements

Preferred Qualifications and/or Education:

  • • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience in a related field
  • • 9+ years of experience working in a similar role using C, C++, and/or JAVA
  • • 3+ years of experience as a Senior Product Developer (level III or above)
  • • Python experience or an equivalent scripting language
  • • Experience developing in a Linux environment
  • • Experience using Atlassian tool stack (e.g., JIRA, Confluence) products
  • • Full competence in software engineering techniques
  • • Measurable experience in utilizing Agile and Lean principles that has increased adaptiveness
  • • Experience as a leader on a Scrum team
