Safran at AUSA 2021: Optics 1 highlights the company’s latest military technologies and its support for veterans

Business

With its presence at last week’s Association of the U.S. Army’s Annual Exhibition (AUSA), Safran Optics 1 – a global leader in the design and production of electro-optic and navigation systems – showcased new innovations designed to help armed forces around the world more effectively meet their mission.

Among the Safran technologies highlighted during this high-profile industry event – held October 11-13 in Washington, D.C. –were Optics 1’s complete range of reconnaissance, surveillance and targeting systems - including Laser Target Locator Module (LTLM) II.

Generating key interest at the show was the first-ever adjustable laser designator, Optics 1’s Small Lightweight Acquisition Marker Designator (SLAM D) – which fills the role of multiple battlefield devices, providing enhanced situational awareness in a single device that is over 30% smaller and lighter than products in use today.

Another highlight of AUSA was the presentation – for the first time – of a functional PASEO, a modular advanced stabilized sight. PASEO increases situational awareness capabilities to armored and surveillance vehicles in all combat scenarios (stationary and on-the move) even at high speeds.

SAFRAN SUPPORTS VETERANS

AUSA also enabled Optics 1 to reaffirm its commitment to support non-profit organizations that improve the lives of veterans and military families – including the Fisher House Foundation and Travis Mills Foundation, both of which the company recently partnered with.

On AUSA’s opening day, Optics 1 honored the Fisher House Foundation – which builds comfort homes where military and veteran families can stay free of charge, while a loved one is in the hospital. These homes are located at military and U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs medical centers around the world. Optics 1 also made a monetary donation during the exhibition.

During Day 2, Optics 1 recognized the Travis Mills Foundation – which supports recalibrated veterans and their families through various programs that help these heroic men and women overcome physical and emotional obstacles, strengthen their families, and provide well-deserved rest and relaxation. Through this organization, veteran families receive an all-inclusive, all-expenses-paid, barrier-free vacation at a retreat center in Maine.
