Safran Aircraft Engines designs, produces, and sells, alone or in partnership, commercial and military aircraft engines offering world-class performance. Through CFM International*, Safran Aircraft Engines is the world's leading supplier of engines for single-aisle mainline commercial jets. Safran Aerospace Composites in Rochester, NH is dedicated to the production of 3D woven composite parts, made using the RTM (resin transfer molding) process. The first application of this technology is the production of blades and fan cases for the LEAP (registered trademark) engine, developed by CFM International, designed to power the next generation of single-aisle aircraft. This technology creates less noise and decreases fuel consumption for aircraft engines, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Position Summary:
This position will be a key member of the engineering team supporting the manufacturing of 3D woven composite engine components. This role encompasses everything associated with fan blade or fan case manufacturing process, including, but not limited to, surface prep, prepreg layup, adhesive bonding, abradable application, vacuum bagging and autoclave cure. You will help support and improve the manufacturing process. In addition, this position will include project management, equipment selection, hands-on manufacturing support, process development, strong communication and extensive documentation.
This is a first shift position, Monday-Thursday, 7am-5pm

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)
1. *Develop a very thorough understanding of the part manufacturing process
2. * Create and update procedures and work instructions while taking into consideration operator feedback, equipment, process data, and customer requirements
3. * Monitor and update SPC database for current production parts to better to detect and prevent process drifts
4. *Work side by side with production to improve the process and successfully train operators
5. Participate in MRB review of discrepant parts including root cause and corrective actions
6. Work with data team to develop efficient and useful reporting tools
7. Summarize, prepare and deliver technical presentations to engineering and management
8. Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation; coordinate and implement solutions
9. Evaluate and improve manufacturing methods utilizing knowledge of part manufacturing processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods and quality standards.
10. Generate manufacturing data reports to support immediate feedback to the operators and generation of Quality documentation
11. Work closely with Quality and Product Engineering departments to efficiently communicate nonconforming production data
12. Create visual management standards to communicate performance
13. Interact with French counterparts to report on process improvement or development activities
14. Other duties as assigned

Job Specifications
1. Bachelor's degree in Materials, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering, or other relevant technical degree
2. 3-5 years of relevant engineering experience required.
3. Strong understanding of composite and adhesive cure cycles is preferred
4. Knowledge of composite manufacturing processes and tooling preferred
5. Majority of time to be spent on the production floor working with equipment, processes and manufacturing personnel
6. Self-starter with the ability to deal with ambiguity and work independently with limited direction
7. Requires a strict attention to detail and strong project management skills
8. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
9. Experience with automation of manufacturing processes is preferred
10. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
11. Ability to quickly develop an understanding of the current master data environment (including systems, policies, processes, and procedures)
12. Understanding of LEAN manufacturing concepts and/or 6 Sigma techniques preferred
13. Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
14. Knowledge of and compliance with AS9100C or ISO9001 standards preferred
15. Ability to travel within the US and internationally (not to exceed 10%).
16. Ability to lift up to 15 pounds, approximately 10% of a standard work day

3. Employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms
4. Protective footwear must be worn in manufacturing areas, approximately 50% of a standard work day
5. Protective eyewear must be worn in manufacturing areas, approximately 80% of a standard work day
The expected salary range for this position is between $75,000 - $95,000 USD annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, education, and other factors permitted by law.
Candidates for positions with Safran Aerospace Composites must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Employment eligibility verification will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position now or in the future.
