In these configurations, the first number denotes the total number of input channels, while the second number indicates the total number of output channels. For example, a 72x12 multiplexer has 72 input channels and 12 output channels, allowing for complex signal routing and management

 

Matrix switches, on the other hand, are described by configurations like 4x4, 8x8, and 12x12. These configurations represent both the number of inputs and outputs, illustrating a fully connected matrix switch. In these examples, a 4x4 matrix switch features 4 inputs and 4 outputs, providing a direct and comprehensive connection between all input and output points
