Summary of Job Purpose:

  • - The manufacturing engineer is responsible for the development and implementation of manufacturing processes to maintain proper product functionality and cost efficiency, to improve safety, delivery, quality, cost, lead-time, inventory, and reduce product/process variation. She/he defines, develops, documents and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards; recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls; coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • - Develop, evaluate and improve processes to ensure that manufacturing specifications and procedures are adhered to in relation to quality, method, safety and costs.
  • - Coordinate all aspects of the job including tooling and fixture design, NC programming, machine specification and implementation (if applicable), and the first article process.
  • - Provide detailed process documentation to include tool and fixture drawings, definition of setup, operational procedures and overall process flow.
  • - Assist in training of production operators.
  • - Partner with Supply Chain to arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts and evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards.
  • - Evaluate non-conformity causes and report results and corrective actions
  • - Assist department managers with projects and/or provide technical advice
  • - Write periodic reports and project reports
  • - Able to manage all aspects of projects related to manufacturing processes to include planning, tracking of timelines and implementation of solutions.
  • - Analyze processing methods to test efficacy of existing or new processes, and continuously improve the processes by applying Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma and SPC tools.

Required Competencies:
Education / Experience:
 B.S. in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years related industry experience - Aerospace experience preferred, OR
 A.S. with 10+ years related Aerospace industry experience.
 Legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship
 This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Preferred Qualifications

  • - Experience in manufacturing of precision machining, stamping, injection molding and electro-mechanical assembly operations, inspection and testing methods.
  • - Strong expertise using the full suite of Microsoft Office Tools.
  • - Experience using SAP MRP and ENOVIA PLM software.
  • - Experience with CATIA or Solidworks software.
  • - Strong problem solving skills, self-motivated to perform necessary research.
  • - Demonstrated experience participating and leading process improvement projects.
Skills and Abilities:
  • - Demonstrate operational understanding to provide sound engineering solutions.
  • - Understand internal and external supplier and customer relationships.
  • - Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • - Ability to develop strong working relationships with technical personnel.

  • - While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.
