As a Purchasing Manager your role will be to lead our Material Schedulers ensuring that we have the correct materials on site at the right time for our production facilities whilst managing cost and transportation.
Supplier performance and adherence to plan is a key responsibility for the role, always looking for how performance and costs can be improved.
Using metrics to drive continuous improvement, assisting the team to drive efficiencies and create mitigation plans if required.
What does the job entail?
• Team leadership and develops engagement through a positive and continuous improvement culture, holds regular and effective 1-2-1's, annual appraisals and helps in the creation of development plans
• Contributes to and implements the Supply Chain strategy deploying it through the team ensuring everyone understands their role in the plan
• Ensures inventory levels are maintained within agreed target levels and creates plans to resolve any imbalances. Develops and reports the inventory forecast and identifies obsolete stock and works to mitigate financial impact
• Key member of the Supply Chain Leadership Team working to measure, analyse and improve performance and impacts
• Develops the detailed schedules in line with the Master Production Schedule and Aftermarket requirements. Carries out detailed capacity planning and monitors all critical resources and proposes mitigation plans. Makes adjustments as required according to risks in the external environment
• Ensure that purchasing data is accurate, up to date and regularly audited, liaises with internal teams and suppliers to maintain integrity
• Meets with suppliers to discuss performance metrics, provides performance feedback and proactively create, share and improve forecasts and capacity plans. Highlights any supplier, or sub-tier risks
• Accountable for the management and reliability of inventories and determines how to increase stock turns, reduce waste and optimise customer service
• Measures and analyses performance in line with BU defined metrics, manages creation of relevant reports. Analyses the root cause of missed metrics and works with the relevant teams to develop the necessary recovery plans
