Occupational Summary:
Responsible for the research, coordination, planning, testing and report writing in the certification of aircraft passenger seats in accordance with the approving authorities (FAA/EASA) certification approval process.
Work location:
Hybrid with 2 days a week remote available, other workday onsite at the Gainesville, TX office location. Must reside within commuting distance from employer's Gainesville, TX office. Flexible work arrangements such as 9/80 schedule are available in combination with remote working.
2) Duties and Responsibilities (essential functions):
A) Prepares test plans, reports and other necessary documents in support of FAA certification and compliance with airframe manufacturer requirements.
B) Supports testing activities in the test laboratory.
C) Supports test article conformity activities, as required.
D) Communicates with FAA-DER, FAA engineer and customer/Airframe manufacturer regarding certification issues.
E) Completes drawing sign-off with proper verification of compliance.
F) Stays in compliance with Safran Seats USA procedures (QAP) and certification internal procedures.
G) Completes certification programs with little or no assistance
H) Performs other duties as required.
I) Communicates with internal departments.
J) Performs other duties as assigned.

3) Qualification Requirements:
A) Knowledge and Skills:
i) Must be able to complete certification programs with little to no assistance.
ii) Must be familiar with FAA regulations and airframe manufacturer's specifications.
iii) Reviews and checks test plans and reports.
iv) Must be able to perform standard stress analysis.
v) Must be detail oriented and have sound engineering judgment.
vi) Must be self-motivated and a self-starter.
vii) Must have ability to think strategically and solve problems.
viii) Must be able to generate documents such as, plans, data sheets and reports.
ix) Must have ability to analyze CAD drawings.
x) Must be willing to perform tests and some physical work at the test laboratory, as required.
B) Education and Experience:
Must have a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Aerospace Science, Aerospace Safety, Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Design Engineering, Mechanical and Energy Engineering or a related engineering degree or 12 years equivalent related experience based on education and or experience in lieu of degree.
Plus an additional 2 years of FAA/EASA certification experience required.
OR
Must have a Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Aerospace Science, Aerospace Safety, Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Design Engineering, Mechanical and Energy Engineering or a related engineering degree plus 1 year of FAA/EASA (Aircraft Seat) certification experience required.
C) Competencies:
Acts in accordance with company values and related competencies.
D) Communication Skills:
Must have the ability to generate written communication and to operate required office equipment. Ability to read and review written communication. Speech and hearing abilities that allow individual to communicate clearly and distinctly in English.
E) Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve problems and think strategically.
4) Physical Demands:
This position requires extended periods of sitting while working with computers and viewing computer monitors and other office equipment. Finger dexterity needed in using misc. office equipment such as telephone, computer and copy machine, etc. Bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting up to approximately twenty pounds are required during tasks related to the job.
