The Commodity Manager is responsible for the Commodity Strategy that has been or will be established for assigned commodities within the Water & Waste (WWS) supply base. The Commodity Manager will oversee a group of strategic suppliers within the Safran Water and Waste supply chain and will support the WWS Buyers and WWS Supplier Performance Managers with supplier performance obligations, supplier resourcing and assignment, and contractual negotiations.
The Commodity Manager defines, deploys and governs, in alignment with the Strategic Purchasing vision & strategy, the strategic supplier base working closely with the needs of the Purchasing Manager, Buyers, Supplier Performance Managers, and Engineering Project Managers. The Commodity Manager settles and concludes the Negotiation Terms, Performance and Long-Term Agreements. The Commodity Manager builds and leads the Commodity Strategy Reviews and reports on a regular basis in the dedicated Strategic Purchasing Committee and to an Executive Steering Committee. In the frame of the mission entrusted to him/her, the Commodity Manager reports directly to a lead Commodity Manager and then to the WWS Purchasing VP.
The Commodity Manager
• Defines the sourcing and supplier base strategy (Make or Buy, consolidation, reduction, development of new source, or transfer of work).
• Reports, communicates on a regular basis the strategy progress and outputs
• Consolidates all data related to the commodity.
• Stays abreast of all innovations and technical evolutions with the view to integrate into a supplier management and contractual relationship.
• Builds the plans and the KPI assessment related to the strategy.
• Ensures follow-up of the strategy commodity implementation
• Is the resident procurement expert for the assigned commodity both externally and internally
• Consolidates the data related to the Strategic Suppliers within the assigned commodity
• Drives market analysis, outlooks and competition analysis within the assigned commodity
• Gathers and updates the supplier data including Operational Performance, On Time Deliveries (SOTD including VLD), and Quality of the deliveries (SNCR) to further use in and update the commodity strategy
• Lead mitigation projects to exit or dual source poor performing suppliers while including the short term and long term mitigations plans within the Commodity Strategy and also working with Buyers, Supplier Performance Managers, and Engineering to ensure operational continuity and success.
• Prepares and processes RFQs that include the needs and forecasted volumes in the assigned commodity.
• Management of the Suppliers Contractual Relationship
• Negotiates the LTA and defines the acceptable Terms and Conditions with support from WWS legal department.
Requisitos del puesto de trabajo
Education: Bachelor's degree
Experience: At least 8 years in the position of Strategic Buyer or Strategic Purchasing Manager, other Commodity Manager role or related functions
Computer Skills:
• Advance knowledge Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Good understanding of ERP systems principles and processes
Other Skills:
• Strong knowledge of Purchasing Process and Supplier Quality Assurance obligations
• Strong knowledge of the technologies and process in manufacturing of various commodities.
• Negotiation skills and capability to adapt to changing situations
• Preferred experience in Aerospace, Automotive, or Medical fields
• Some knowledge in legal aspects of supply chain and purchasing practices
• Management of business relationship for the internal network: openness, listening skills, understand specificities but oriented on global optimization of the results.
• Fluent communication in English, another language such as French, Spanish, or German is a plus.
• Willingness and initiative to act as a resource and a mentor for Purchasing Administrators, Junior and Senior Buyers and other lower level Commodity Managers.
