Safran Electronics & Defense, the European leader in inertial navigation, recorded more than 3,000 orders for navigation systems based on hemispherical resonator gyros (HRG) in 2016, a new record. By successfully maturing this advanced technology, Safran has clearly confirmed its status as an innovative enterprise, capable of meeting the fast-evolving requirements of both civil and military markets.

eRider, Safran invents the land-based drone
During the fair Eurosatory 2016, which took place from 13 to 17 June, Safran presented its eRider tactical robot for ground-based forces for the first time. "Our customer and visitors reacted very enthusiastically to our eRider robot, even more so than we expected," says Thierry Dupoux, the Research and Technology (R&T) Director for the Optronics & Defense division of Safran Electronics & Defense. "eRider is the result of three years of research into the subject of mobility in the future," he explains.

How is the Group preparing for this ramp-up in production?
Our production program has already been adapted to recent Rafale contracts won by Dassault Aviation in 2015 (24 aircraft for Egypt, 24 for Qatar). The aircraft manufacturer, to whom we provide engines and various equipment (see infographic) is contracted to ensure the construction of three Rafale per month by 2020.
