The 56,500 sq. meter manufacturing plant in Dhari is Safran's largest Tunisian site. The systems it makes equip airplanes and helicopters for most aircraft manufacturers (Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Leonardo, etc.). The Dhari plant conducts Safran Electrical & Power activities, such as manufacturing and assembling electronic units, lighting systems for landing gear and fuel tanks, wing conduits, and power modules. The site also conducts Safran Electronics & Defense avionics activities (actuation systems, external lighting, and cockpit solutions) and Safran Aerosystems activities (fuel tanks for helicopters, de-icing systems).
Operating out of both the Dhari site and the Soliman plant since 2005, Safran Seats in Tunisia manufactures sub-assemblies for economy-class aircraft seats. The Soliman plant also specializes in cloth cutting, and the manufacture and assembly of frames for business-class aircraft seats. In 2014, the Group expanded its operations in the region when it opened a third Tunisian site in Grombalia, where Safran Cabin is located. The company makes galleys for the Airbus A320 and designs luggage compartments for the A330neo.
Safran's three Tunisian sites also carry out design and development activities. They have filed 10 patents in the last three years.
