Drawing on unrivaled technological expertise and world-class production capabilities, Safran Aircraft Engines offers a range of engines covering different segments of the civil aviation sector. For single-aisle commercial jets, the highly successful CFM56 family reflects Safran Aircraft Engines' world-renowned expertise. The CFM56 is developed, produced and sold by CFM International, the 50/50 joint company between Safran Aircraft Engines and GE. It is the most reliable aircraft engine of its generation and also the best-selling engine in the history of commercial aviation, with more than 32,500 engines already delivered. In 2008 Safran Aircraft Engines and GE extended their partnership until 2040, and expanded it to include services.
Safran Aircraft Engines and GE are now selling the LEAP, a new-generation engine that features the best technologies from its two parent companies, including latest-generation 3D Aero design, innovative composite materials and alloys, additive manufacturing and more. The LEAP has been chosen by the world's leading aircraft manufacturers, for the Airbus A320neo, Boeing 737 MAX and COMAC C919. Entering revenue service in August 2016, the LEAP engine had recorded more than 16,000 orders and commitments – making it the engine with the fastest order rate in the history of aviation.
Safran Aircraft Engines is also involved in the production of large turbofan engines for widebody jets, as a major contributor to GE on the GE90, GP7200, CF6-80 and GE9X. In the regional aircraft market, Safran Aircraft Engines produces the SaM146 engine for the Sukhoi Superjet 100 regional jet in conjunction with Russian counterpart NPO Saturn, through their equally-owned joint venture, PowerJet.
Safran Aircraft Engines has also drawn on its long experience as a commercial engine manufacturer to develop the new-generation Silvercrest
Calling on its comprehensive expertise as a full-line engine manufacturer, Safran Aircraft Engines offers support services to ensure fleet dispatch reliability. Safran Aircraft Engines gives customers and other operators a complete range of responsive services, tailored to their specific needs, under the EngineLife® label.
