Our expertise

Ensuring the operational superiority of armed forces

The operational environment has undergone profound changes in recent years, with an increase in the frequency of conflicts leading to saturated and contested theaters of operations, and widespread rearmament. Thanks to its complete expertise in critical technologies (optronics, inertial navigation, precision timing, guidance, radio frequency detection, artificial intelligence) and its leading industrial capabilities, Safran Electronics & Defense provides both very high-performance solutions for the most demanding platforms (tanks, helicopters, submarines, etc.) and robust, scalable capabilities that can be deployed on a large scale.

Contributing to sovereign control of space

With its opening up to non-state actors, space has become the arena for major industrial, political, and economic challenges. We serve both established players and new entrants. Our solutions guarantee access to space and enable scientific observation missions, while providing the keys to sovereign control.

Working to ensure flight and passenger safety

As an aerospace supplier, our teams are committed every day to ensuring flight and passenger safety. We provide cutting-edge solutions in avionics and actuation. Furthermore, our Research & Technology activities are already contributing to the ambitious goals of decarbonizing aviation.

The Gender Equality Index is calculated in accordance with French law (Law of September 5, 2018, and its implementing decree of January 8, 2019) regarding professional equality between men and women. French companies with 50 or more employees are legally required to measure and publish these five gender equality indicators annually. This requirement is specific to French employment law and does not apply to Safran's operations in other countries, where local employment practices and regulations govern employment practices.

In addition, the law "aimed at accelerating economic and professional equality between women and men" of December 24, 2021 (known as the Rixain law) creates a new obligation to feminize the management bodies of companies with over 1,000 employees. At Safran, the professional development policy for women, their access to positions of responsibility, the detection of their potential, and support for their professional development are priorities that we have also extended to our relations with engineering schools and universities for several years.

Within the scope of Safran Electronics & Defense SAS, the indicators relating to representation gaps in 2025 between women and men in positions of greater responsibility were as follows:

  • Percentage of women and men among all senior managers: 18,67 % / 81,33 %
  • Percentage of women and men among all members of governing bodies: 27,78 % / 72,22 %
